I have a feeling we're not alone, in that we have a lot of kitchen gadgets that are rarely used. We (and I am being kind to my wife when I say that) buy a lot of stuff that looks like it might be useful, and a lot of it is, but everything takes up shelf space, and shelf space is limited, so the things that aren't used a lot are put away somewhere, and generally forgotten.

For my part, I have a nice juicer. I enjoyed making different juices with it, and most of this stuff is healthy. However, cleaning it is a chore, especially if I don't get to it right away, so I didn't use it for awhile. There was also the problem that the juicer was large, and taking up shelf space, so it got put away somewhere and it would probably take me a month to find it, so now I never use it.

I have an egg poacher. I like poached eggs and this is a darned good egg poacher. However, while I like poached eggs, I am only in the mood for them once a month or so. Fortunately, I do know where that is, and it's not too hard to get to, so that would probably be termed a "little-used kitchen gadget."

I know my wife has things that she used, and which worked well, but which are put away for similar reasons. Somewhere, we have a dehydrator, a bread maker, and I don't know what else.

For all I know, she sold this stuff on eBay.

I'm pretty good about not buying things I won't use, except this thing. Just this minute found out what it is for. Never made an omelet in my life, but it's too cute to throw away. :(

Do you mean never using the gadget, or never, never? I find that last one impossible to imagine! Or, maybe you don't like eggs? Allergy?

When I was a kid in grammar school, a 3-egg omelet was standard breakfast fare for me, perhaps as many as 3 days a week; I never was bored with them. My Mother was masterful though, at making foods normally disdained by kids palatable, and even likeable. She made spinach into a sort of thick soup which she called "Pop-eye Gravy". I loved it! My schoolfriends all hated it.

Back then, kitchen gadgets were mostly whatever was standard fare. We did have a mainly unused waffle iron, but things like electric mixers, nope!

My wife loves omelets. I don't mind omelets but I prefer my eggs prepared in pretty much any other way, including fried, poached, scrambled, or pickled.

I said I never MADE an omelet (at home). Didn't say I never ATE one, but I can count the times on one hand. I like eggs fried or scrambled. Think I tried to fry an egg in that pan once, or maybe it was a pancake. Anyway it didn't work.
Would you believe, I got a second hand electric mixer from a friend who was going to throw it away when she moved to Atlanta, 40 years ago, and I'm still using it? As long as it works...

I'm no commie, so I don't know anything about Borscht. Pickled eggs are good, though - even the gas station kind, but I prefer ones that are pickled at home. They're easy to make.

That's something that we don't see so much of anymore - appliances that can be and are used forever. My mom's kitchen appliances were made shortly after electricity was invented, I think. While she had plenty of them, she didn't have to keep replacing them with new models.

I was "funnin' " you but now you've stripped away the comedy! Gas station kind?? What, ya store eggs in gasoline? Anyways, I thought Borscht was Jewish, accepted as Kosher. No idea how Commies would fit in, other than knowing their dislike of the Jewish.

Are we (am I) getting in a bit beyond, er..... illustrative writing here?

Borscht sounds Russian to me, and if I should ever decide to run for president one day, I wouldn't want anyone to connect me with Borscht, and from there to the Russians and the whole collusion thing. You know how it is. Now, if it turns out that Borscht is Jewish after all, then we'd have to deal with the Jews killing Jesus thing, and I could lose a whole other constituency there. I just can't afford to get involved.

I was just joking about the Borscht thing, of course. As for gas station pickled eggs, you must never get off the expressway when you travel if you've never experienced pickled eggs from a gas station. Real gas stations, the kind that aren't found in expressway service areas, have large jars of pickled eggs that you can buy; not usually the whole jar, though. I'm sure they'd be willing to sell you the whole jar, but that's a lot of pickled eggs and they're not that good. One is usually enough, may two if your wife isn't with you. Wives generally not only hate pickled eggs, but they don't even want anyone else to eat pickled eggs. It's a biological defect, I think. That's probably why they used to call them the weaker sex.

Anyhow, the big jar of pickled eggs would be sitting next to the big jar of pickled sausages, but the pickled sausages are kind of gross. Leave them alone. Actually, these gas stations are becoming more scarce than they used to be. As gas stations consolidate, the newer, larger, more modern gas stations tend to have salad bars and twenty different flavors of coffee rather than jars of pickled eggs. That's whats wrong with America today. That, and soccer.

Deviled eggs. Deviled eggs are good too, but I have no idea why they call them that. They don't sell deviled eggs at gas stations though. You have to go to church picnics if you want deviled eggs. There's irony there.

Now that I've finished my serious discussion, I have to find a way to bring this back to the topic of kitchen appliances. After all, while I don't know diddly about Borscht, I do know that you don't need a lot of kitchen appliances to pickle an egg. If I had such an appliance, my wife would probably sell it on eBay anyhow.

So far, I've never met an egg style I didn't like.
    Personal favorites:

    Eggs Benedict
    [IMG]

    Egg on a Burger
    [IMG]

But my all-time favorite are Scottish Eggs!

but back to the subject at hand... We have at least 3 bread machines that get little, to no use.

I don't use any of my kitchen gadgets....maybe my emulsion blender and a wooden spoon and a spatula.

My cupboards are full though...don't even know what I have anymore because I don't look. Sometimes I just want to take a match to it all...

My ex liked to cook and while he was here he was always buying stuff...I never used any of it.

I probably have 3 steam cleaners in the garage...he was always ordering things....I'd be much better off without all the crap he bought into my house.

Nice of him but I didn't want it then and don't now.

I looked in a drawer the other day and picked up something and I have no idea what it even is...maybe an egg poacher??

I have gadgets, and more than we need (don’t tell Bobby I said that, please); but at different times, I do use every one of them, and I don’t want to not have it and then want to use it.
I think I am a compulsive Gadget Girl, my mom had gadgets, and Robin collects all sorts of gadgets, kitchen and otherwise; so I am pretty sure that it is hard-wired into my genes somewhere.
The main one that I use all of the time would be my Vitamix, and I have it always right out on the counter where it is easy to use. I also have the Ninja blender, and I like it when I want just the Ninja cup size of something blended, like a spinach smoothie-shake, or some flax seeds. The large Ninja container will not pulverize things like the Vitamix does, so I use the Vitamix for making my almond milk, or fresh lemonade.
I suppose that I SHOULD confess that I have three yogurt makers, and I really do NOT need more than one of them; so yes........ I do need to re-home some of the gadgets that I actually don’t need.
I am sure that there are extenuating circumstances for why I have three yogurt makers though.

Just as an off-topic sidenote; I also love deviled eggs, and so does Bobby, so I make them a lot.
Aldi usually has eggs for 28 cents a dozen, so we can have eggs about any time we want them at that price, and if they are not used up right away, then I make a batch of deviled eggs before I buy some new , fresh ones from Aldi.
