I think the saying "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger" is very true...at least I know for me it was.
Yes it definitely did me for a while too...too strong in many ways, people would often do or say mean things to me, because they would say'' You can take it, you're strong''... ...but in many ways I think that it was the cause of a lot of my illnesses , even now..
Some of your illnesses can be caused by overworking too Holly. When you push your body past its healthy limits and don't give it time to rejuvenate...it's going to start breaking down and showing unhealthy wear and tear through illness, etc. It will take time to bring health back to your body and even then since we aren't young anymore it will be a different healthy than when you were younger.
Oh yes I'm sure you're right Babs, that's one of the reasons... ...it's been almost a year since I retired now, and I sorely wish I'd taken the decision earlier because for this whole year I've had various illnesses, .. all needing hospital and consultant attention..long , painful, first year of retirement and it's still ongoing and on so many different meds , so I hope you're right and these things will eventually get better with the treatment, albeit a little slower now I'm older..
We're in for rain showers with thunder and lightning for the rest of the week and into the next. They don't last long but the thunder and lightning is really putting on a show. This is good soaking rain for our flowers and plants, etc. so I really don't mind it at all. This morning I'm going to share some paintings of flower gardens because that is what is on my mind today. The last photo is not a painting and it is how I wish my flower garden could look all the time. May your day be filled with happy thoughts and a surprise or two that blesses you.
I think it's just one of Lisa's economies Holly, she said one curtain covers the window so why put up two I don't think it's particularly Russian, as there two curtains for each window here and other places we have stayed at.
Hi everyone, another long day visiting Rostov, the weather was lovely and sunny despite a cloudy day being forecast. We visited the Kremlin and a couple of monasteries which were outstandingly beautiful as was the Kremlin. I hope your day has gone well and all is well....... One photo from this afternoon...
Good morning on a sunny Saturday morning on our last day here, we will pack our suitcase and go and visit another monastery and a museum, and then our host Igor will pick us up from wherever we are, and take us to the local bus station for our bus to Moscow and the evening train. We have enjoyed our time here and I have aged a year, so another moment in my unfolding life to add to my memories. Lisa wanted to buy me a birthday present to remember the place, so we eventually chose a small bell from a monastery gift shop, I can use in Lisa's flat to call for another coffee in bed when I am waking up, Lisa has to come in and check at the moment, so it will be a labour saving device Enjoy your day...
Hi everyone we are 1 hour into the 4 hour train journey to St.Petersburg, amazingly I am typing this on my tablet and drinking coffee, while the train is traveling at over 200 mph We are both tired and Lisa is sleeping at the moment, which is very unusual, because she never sleeps on journeys of any kind I am looking forward to a day of doing nothing tomorrow. I hope you are enjoying the weekend
It's fathers day so I will have a do nothing day for a change, I had a couple of coffees in bed earlier, thanks to the bell To all you Fathers ...... .....and a belated one for all you mothers, which I think I forgot a while ago .......to everyone have a great Sunday......
Good Morning One and All. A Blessed Father's Day to each of the dads on here too. I'm in a playful mood this morning so I'm going to share some playful animals pictures with y'all. Hope they bring a smile to your face as they did to mine. May we all have a playful and joy filled day.
Good Morning to all ! I know what day it is, I know who is president and vice president... I can still multiply numbers in my mind...I am breathing... am moving around well...yep think it's gonna be a good day..Hope you all have a good one
Good Morning. Happy Monday. We woke up to thunder and lightning this morning around 5:30am and the Weather person predicted an 80% chance of continuing thunderstorms throughout the day...so my Honey decided to call in and take a vacation day from work. Since all the young employees are out of school for the Summer they have more then enough employees to fill in for anyone that wants to take a day break sometimes. I'm glad my Honey decided to take one of those day breaks and spend the day with me. Of course rain is on my mind this morning so I thought I would share some rainy day paintings. No matter what kind of weather you are experiencing where you live may your day be delightful!
