I slept for most of the flight back from my recent trip to Mexico, but did manage one movie, funnily enough it was another one starring Woody Harrelson, (who I watched in "The Glass Castle" another excellent movie on the flight out) I enjoyed this one and again the acting was superb, highly recommended ............ a word of warning there is a lot of swearing, none of it gratuitous in my opinion, but if it bothers you avoid it. I watched it with an open mind not having heard of it, but I see it has been well reviewed and even won a Golden Globe award, it deals partly with racism in the police force, but many other human frailties as well, as the director said: “It’s supposed to be a deliberately messy and difficult film. Because it’s a messy and difficult world,” McDonagh concludes. “You have to kind of hold up a mirror to that a little bit and say we don’t have any kind of solution. But I think there’s a lot of hope and humanity in the film and if you look at all those issues with those things in your heart, we might move on to a more interesting place.” PS: the trailer doesn't really give a fair view of the movie, there isn't that much violence in it, they have just picked out all the violent scenes for promotional reasons I presume
I don't care for him either @Patsy Faye I also love Missouri...my son lives about a half hour from it's border...maybe less and when my kids were in dental school I spent lots of time in different areas of Missouri....loved it! It's got its problems in some places just like all states do but it also has a lot of pluses.
I never saw Cheers and I don't really know him apart from these two recent movies, in which he acts very well. I must have seen him in earlier films, but he never registered with me before. "The Glass Castle" is an excellent movie based on the true story of Jeannette Walls.
I looked that one up and it looks interesting... Even the book it's based on looks good...I love memoirs or true stories.
I just rented the movie on Amazon for $4.99. Some reviews say the book is better but that's usually the case. Maybe after my PT this morning I'll buy some popcorn at Trader Joe's. Sounds like a great Friday for me. Who needs a husband, lol!!
It looks interesting. There's a book? I'll look into that. Edit: Looked on Amazon, seems there is a screenplay but no actual book related to the movie.
I was talking about the glass castle @Kitty Carmel https://www.amazon.com/Glass-Castle...8&qid=1518202050&sr=8-1&keywords=Glass+castle
this is on my 'must watch' ... Francis McDormand is a very good actress imo, loved her in Olive Kitteridge
