One last word and I'm finished with this topic...

What if when you move to the colder climates and they have an extra cold winter and two winter coats aren't enough and you're stuck in the apt for days or weeks and in the meantime Florida is having a great winter and is 80?

I can understand wanting to move but not because you had to wear a winter coat for a few days in 47 degrees.

The reality is never what you remember or imagine....

BECAUSE, this cold weather hasn't just been a few days! All next week, day and night, will be very cold..........definitely below average for this time of year.

Actually, I really wish some of these folks who are complaining about the cold they are having, and live in the south, would come to my rescue. Guess I have another darn good reason to leave this forum for good.

    BYE!!

I bet that it's cold now @Cody Fousnaugh but that's not the norm is what I'm saying.

Yes, others who live in the south now are probably cold too but I don't think that they'll be wanting to move north where it's even colder.

2 weeks out of the year is tolerable.

I hate the heat in Fresno and it lasts 5 months and some years are worse than others so maybe that's why I enjoy the 47 degree temps so much.

@Ken Anderson can ban me if he wants but I just want to add you sound like a big baby complaining about the 47 degrees in Florida.

Move to bitter cold Wyoming ...I doubt you'll be happy there either...things aren't the same anywhere Anymore...good luck!

You want to move to freezing weather just to wear your cowboy hat and boots....that's not enough reason in my view.

I know I went over the line in my last post Cody but you just set me off with things you say.

I have shoveled snow in flip-flops, shorts, and a tee-shirt, and I regularly go to the store with flip-flops or clogs, and a tee-shirt. We have a heater in the car and the walk from the car to the store and back isn't long enough to require dressing up like an Eskimo.

Weather has always fluctuated from year to year. In Michigan, I can remember getting the first snow as early as August or as late as January. Some years we'd get a ton of snow, others not so much. Same with the temperatures.

We are northeast of Birmingham, @Frank Sanoica . We watched the snow storm coming through on the radar, and they had said we could also get snow; but we didn’t (thankfully), althoughwe still got the cold everyone else did. We were right on the edge of the snowline, and the heavier snow was further south than us, which seems strange, but that was how it went. Even further south than Birmingham got snow, as well as some parts of Southern Texas.
Right now, it is just above freezing here (39) and then we head into the colder days as we get into January, predicted 20-30’s in the day and lower teens at night. I am going to get Evelyn today and make a last run to Kroger for bread, cream for my coffee, and stuff like that, and then we are going to stay tucked in over the holiday weekend. We usually do that anyway, just because of all of the drunk drivers on New Years; but this year, the cold will keep us at home and inside as well.

It does seem to me like we are having more of the cold weather, and for a longer period of time than we usually have here; but I think that we thought the same thing last winter. Even so, I am glad that we are here, and not up north where below zero weather is the norm. It might not be perfect here, either; but I am still grateful to be where I am.

I have noticed during my years in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas that people would dress up in winter-like clothing when the temperatures dropped below seventy.

We in NC do get some very cold temperatures but not usually this early. Mostly, it's late January and February. And it's normally just a couple of days at a time. Maybe this time the ground is cold enough and we'll get some snow and it will stick. Then I can get some winter pictures to show @Holly Saunders. :D

It is not even to reach 32 degrees today in Huntsville, AL and to be in the mid teens tonight with a wind chill in the single digits. And tomorrow not to get out of the 20's. Now, I live in the South because I am not a fan of the cold. But at least it is not snowing or sleeting or such. I have big lovely pot of ham and navy bean soup on the stove to have with corn bread tonight for dinner.

Sounds like great soup to have on a cold New Year's Eve @Joyce Mcgregor.

I'm just going to pig out on something I would never consider eating normally and that is mac and cheese with Truffles.

Trader Joe's sells it and I tried a bite when my grandson had it when I was there at Christmas....YUM, I knew that's what I was going to treat myself to on NYE. :)

It's TV dinner size but it's considered 2 portions so the calories, carbs and sodium are off the charts for me but what the heck....

I was thinking of cooking up some plain macaroni and stretching it but then it wouldn't taste as good.

Not so cold here today @Joyce Mcgregor , because we have heavy rain so now we have temps of 51f today...11 deg C... a few days ago we had below freezing and snow. Home made soup is wonderful comfort food on a cold winters night, and especially at New years eve .

Tonight I nearly had Mac & cheese, but I changed my mind and had fish pie that I'd made at Christmas and froze.. and had it with Roasted parsnips... deeelicious...

The rain however hasn't put the off the firework displays I can hear whizzing and booming all over the place... and if I go outside I'll be able to see them all in the distance, but I'm staying in, in the dry warm house...

The high today in Nashville will about 24°F
Had tickets to the Titans football game, but gave them away.
Way too cold for this old guy and the traffic detours due to
New Years celebration downtown made it a no-brainer...

    Stay warm wherever you are.:)

It is 25 here right now, and 12 with the wind chill factor. The wind is coming straight out of the north and blowing hard. Supposed to be 13 for the low and -1 with the wind chill, according to the latest forecast on the Weather channel app.
We will definitely be letting the water drip in the kitchen (on the north side of the house), and probably I will have my side of the electric blanket turned on, too.
I put a light blanket over the back door to help stop the cold from coming in, and the dogs are only going out for a few minutes at a time.
Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder, and stay cold for the whole next week.
