When you look at the weather radar for the United States, just about all of the snow is coming across the southern states right now. Last night, it showed snow between Dallas and Houston, and I was thinking that it might be getting cold on @Ina I. Wonder , and this morning, it looks like the snow went on through and it is now snowing south of Houston and looks like clear into the Gulf shores of Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. It has not started snowing here yet, but the morning forecast is saying snow showers, and it is showing snow on the radar all around us. It seems to be running all the way from Mexico into Washington, DC. Is anyone else here on the forum getting snow today ? I see snow over Louisiana, so wondered if @Babs Hunt is getting snow now, too ? I am glad that we made the monthly trip to Sam’s Club yesterday, so we can just hibernate for a while until it warms back up again here.
The Weather man actually said that this was not the earliest snow Lafayette ever had...that would have been on Dec. 4, 2009...which is what these pics are from. That was also when we still lived in the from Cottage.
So far no snow here; but it is definitely really cold. The radar shows all blue/snow around us, but we are not getting any snow, at least not yet. It could still happen anytime, from what I can see on the radar, and the sky seriously looks like it could snow.
It's already melting over here but the temperatures will drop in the 20's as we go into the evening hours and this rain and melted snow may become icy which can create very dangerous road conditions for those who have to be out and about. It was fun seeing, taking pictures, and touching some snow for a short time...but I wouldn't want to live somewhere where there is a whole lot of snow for most of the winter.
it was trying really hard to snow here this morning ! We could see tiny little flakes drifting down, but it didn’t actually snow. It was pretty cold, and was about zero out when you factor in the wind chill. We left the water drip last night, but I would guess that there were people who didn’t know to do that and woke up to no water this morning. I am so ready for the cold snap to be over, but it looks like at least the rest of this will will continue to be cold. Both the dogs and ourselves are doing our best to keep warm and stay inside by the warm heater.
I was just texting about that the other day with my sister in NJ. She was afraid her pipes might freeze and she's used to cold in NJ...she said she's gonna let them drip.
Our snow flurries are a possibility on Wednesday. For the next 4-5 days the early morning temps will be in the 20's and that's not counting the wind chill factors and during the day it won't get much past freezing temps. This is definitely a Winter we Cajuns will not forget...and it's really just started too. It was to cold to sit outside and watch the fireworks last night but I heard plenty of them while I was trying to sleep. This year I guess the cold made everyone quit shooting them off early as they didn't last very long at all. I'm so glad I went to the Library a few days ago and stocked up on books to read...with this cold weather I won't be going anywhere unless I absolutely have to.
We have snow this morning, and the weather is just getting colder and colder here. It is about 20 right now and dropping. By tonight , it is supposed to be down to around 8f, with the windchill bringing us to -5 below zero. It looks like there could be snow near you, too @Babs Hunt . Do you have snow at all or is it in the forecast there ? Here is our front walk and driveway, and it is supposed to snow for most of the afternoon. Everything is shut down here today.
We don't have snow yet...but all the schools were closed again and the snow is coming this afternoon...just a light dusting of it unless something changes. The sleet begin earlier than expected and the temps are dropping and by morning we may be in the teens or around 20 degrees. The wind is really blowing strong and that makes it feel so much colder but we are right on the border of all that Winter weather system and should not get anywhere near the worst of it. I like your picture.
The wind is blowing the icy rain on my porch now...we definitely have to be careful we don't slip and hurt ourselves on this stuff.
