I had low thyroid , too, and I refused the synthroid, and they gave me the natural armor thyroid, but now my thyroid is working fine again; so hopefully, this will help yours to work right, too, @Shirley Martin . My symptoms were about the same as yours, and I could barely drag myself around.
It did start to improve within about a month, but for the thyroid to completely heal and work right again, it took almost a year.
I think there is an earlier thread about it on here somewhere.

Apparently, I'm low on calcium. The thyroid (which I don't have) also regulates calcium.

I first heard of this possibility of iodine deficiency about 15 yrs ago and have been dosing 1-2 drops of Iosol daily ever since. When I've skipped a week or so my breasts would have pain and tenderness, so I make sure to not skip.

Dr. David Williams talks about this issue in his Alternative Health newsletter which I subscribed to for many yrs. He likes the Iosol, there are other brands as well. Dr. Brownstein has many articles and a couple books on this issue in recent years.

There is tons of info on this important mineral and I don't use white table salt.

And know that all the fluoridated drinks/foods one consumes, we are pulling iodine from our bodies. I avoid city tap waters as MOST are fluoridated with toxic man made chemcals.

All our body tissues NEED iodine and this includes thyroid as well.

Yes and another is iron, vitamin D, etc., deficiency. This is why Oncologist are also Hematologist. Seniors should have a complete blood workup yearly.

    Yes, Yes, Yes!!!
Although, I prefer to get one every 6 months but I do definitely agree that a Complete blood test should be done including a hormone panel. Granted, the hormone panel has to be requested, but it’s the key to a lot of problems we, as older folks, have.
Taking this and that without having a good foundation of knowledge is like going helter skelter with the human body.

YES! ... and if your family has a high rate of any cancer, get the genetic cancer testing. Maybe your family has a high rate of breast cancer and you boys think you are in the clear. NOT! It maybe at a low rate you can get breast cancer, but you will probably have markers for a high rate of colon cancer. The two are related. My genetic testing showed I had NO markers for the cancer I had removed, none! I thought I would be genetically cleared of all cancer, since I had an earlier partial hysterectomy. Wrong, I am at a super high rate for cervical cancer in the next few years although I have never had any indicators that such would be an issue for me. So I ponder the question ... do I wait until cancer is detected or just have it removed now? Not anxious for another surgery, but not liking the idea of cancer treatment. So yes, don't put off any test that can detect or predict cancer.
