We have started on the spring yardwork. The bushes along the fence line between us and the next door neighbors had really grown, so we took the pruners and chopped them back. Bobby used the long ones for the. Larger branches, and i got the smaller ones with the regular pruners.
Then , we had this huge pile of branches in the back yard; so Bobby ordered a small electric Chipper from Amazon, and he has been turning the branches into nice mulch. I put some around the strawberries after we got last winter's leaves cleared out, and the weeds that were starting to grow around the berry plants, even under the leaves and pine needles.
The chipper/shredder takes branches up to 1 1/2"; so it works great for the smaller stuff we cut down, and anything larger than that, we will just cut the branches off, and then use the main piece as a gardening stake somewhere.
The neighbor has a grove of old pine trees, which (of course) shed pine needles constantly; but they collect over the winter, so it is always a huge mess to clean up the next spring, where the tow property lines meet and the pine trees are just on the other side of the fence.
It is mainly in the front yard, and I have started raking those up now, too. Still a lot to go to find the lawn however.

Today I worked outside in the yard and raked up some of the pine needles that are along the side next to our neighbor that has pine trees. Then I dug up some of the tubers from the sunchokes, and after I did that, I decided that it was a good time to start cultivating around the roses and blueberry bushes out front.
When I was cultivating, I even found more of the sunchoke tubers; so that actually turned out to be a great way to get them out of the ground. My electric cultivator is called a "Green Machine", and it has two little digger arms that go through the soil; so it is different than an actual cultivator tiller.
I also have one of those; but it seems like the Green Machine does the best job of breaking the dirt up at first, and then I can take the other tiller and till it up good.
I found one on eBay that is a Black and Decker and uses the battery pack, and it was one of those "make an offer" sales; so I got it for $36+shipping. the ones on Amazon were starting out at almost $100 and then went up from there; but this one should be lightweight and easy for me to use, and I won't have to drag around the extension cord all of the time. I al excited about getting it !
I just got that set of weedeater and leaf blower a few weeks ago at a yard sale, and I really like using them. They do not last too long. Before they need re-charged; but then......... neither do I .
My fitness tracker said that I have walked over 2 miles today, just doing the yard work, and now I am done for the day.

I think I saw a spot of actual ground in the driveway today.
