I just bought all 76 episodes of The Rebel, which ran from 1959 to 1961, starring Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma. I haven't opened it yet, and haven't seen an episode since I was a kid but I know I liked it then. I still remember the tune and some of the words to the theme song. After the Civil War, Johnny Yuma, a former Confederate soldier, wanders from town to town doing good deeds and shooting people, which, if I remember correctly, was pretty much the same thing. Although a string of stars came through the series in guest parts, Nick Adams was the only regular in the series. I think that's Johnny Cash singing the theme song.
Although I have never been much of a television person, I remember this series fro the past, and it was one that I also loved to watch each week. It was definitely Johnny Cash singing the theme song, and since I was/am a big Johnny Cash fan, I am sure that was at least part of the reason that I loved that show. You are going to have a great time watching all 76 episodes of that program, @Ken Anderson !
@Ken Anderson I know you'll enjoy all 76 episodes. What a great time for television. " The Rebel" 1957-1961 " Wanted Dead or Alive" 1958-1961 " Have Gun Will Travel" 1957-1963 Countless stars got their start on these shows.
One thing that I have noticed, binge-watching the series, that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise, is that they use several of the same guest characters in different roles. Someone who plays the part of sheriff in one episode might show up as a stagecoach bandit in another and a storekeeper in another.
We've been watching a lot of old westerns lately. Wells Fargo, Wanted...Dead or Alive, and The Virginian are some we see almost every day lately.
