I once worked with a fellow that was from Indonesia and we became pretty good friends. He told me that he immigrated to Canada because he had gotten crossways in a political feud back home. His occupation there was a professional hunter, he hunted crocodiles for their skins. On one occasion, he and his partner were camped on a high spot near the river and during the night, the torrential monsoon rains started. Next morning they found themselves marooned on an island in the middle of a raging torrent, far from shore with no boat. The rains continued for three months as the monsoon rains do. He and his partner continued to take crocodiles and had everything they needed although their food supplies were running low so they ate crocodile. He told me that for the first while, crocodile tasted just like chicken but after three months, it just tasted like crocodile!

Oh I've had crocodile many times... it really doesn't taste like chicken, but it has roughly the same kind of texture.. it's nice... but nothing exceptional...

When we had our Cajun restaurant, Bobby ordered some alligator because we had a request from one of our favorite families that wanted to try some, and were thrilled that he could get it.
The kids LOVED it, and I am sure that they went back to school on Monday and bragged to all of the other kids that they had eaten real alligator !
It didn’t tase like chicken to me, but somewhere between chicken and pork maybe. It was okay, and I liked it better than some of the things we had; but not anything that I would go out of my way to buy and eat.

It's true that I worked with the guy and that's the story he told me.

They say that rattlesnake tastes like chicken too. Everything tastes like chicken. I don't know why people don't simply eat chicken. It's cheaper and less disgusting than some of the stuff that tastes like it.

    :D:D sooo true....

I have kangaroo and Ostrich steaks in the freezer we can get them easily here , and they pretty much taste the same as game birds, different texture but very strong meaty taste no fat on them.

I'm not too keen on them tbh..

I had frogs legs in Paris once...everyone said they tasted like chicken too.... I have no idea because when they were served they had some nasty tasting gunky garlic sauce poured over them and at the time my French wasn't good enough to understand the menu...so to this day I always think of frogs legs tasting of that sauce..

I don't know about crocodile. I could never get one of those critters skint. :D
