This is regarding Couscous. I don't know if anyone else likes it.

Anyway I bought 3 boxes because they were on sale. One plain box and two flavored/seasoned boxes. I cooked the plain box today and noticed the water need seemed more than what I had used before. So I looked at the ounces: 10. I looked at the seasoned and they were 5.7 and 5.8 ounces each. Different flavors.

Makes a difference. I never noticed this before. I just put some seasoning in myself and it turned out fine. I also like it cold in a salad.

I had looked for bulk Couscous at WINCO foods because they have a large bulk section but didn't see any.

    What is Couscous @Kitty Carmel?

I've heard of it and we cajuns even have something we call couscous...but that is the rice that is left at the bottom of the pot that cajuns pour milk on and eat with a spoon. :)

MY o/h eats cous cous most nights with his salad... he buys the boxed ones from the chill cabinet..usually spiced/ fruity or peppered 350 gms for £2.10 ready prepared ... but I bought him a 1.5 KG jar of spiced cous cous ( well known brand) where you can scoop out the amount you need just add water... and it only cost £4.50

@Babs Hunt It's a wheat based grain product. I buy it dry. They are tiny little bits of grain.

Yes that's where it's kept in our supermarkets @Babs Hunt ..either ready made in the chill cabinet with the pasta and coleslaw etc... or dried in the aisles with the rice and pasta

I have only seen it in the dried section with rice or pasta, out here. I think that it is also in the health food section. Grits are made of hominy that has been dried and crushed, and couscous looks more like grains of rice.
I have also noticed the difference in sizes that look the same.
Tuna fish is one that I just noticed. Both Kroger and Walmart have their store brand of tuna for the exact same price; but when I looked at the cans, the one from Kroger was 4 oz, and the Walmart one was 5 oz.
Cottage cheese is another place that is deceptive. The small size is 16 oz, and the large size, which cost about twice as much, and used to be 32 oz, is now only 24 oz. I can usually get two of the small ones for the same price as the large one, and I get more cottage cheese; so I buy two of the small ones.
