Just for a bit of humour and if anyone wants to laugh at my commentary this video was taken a couple of days ago in Queensland of my husband feeding the magpies. And yeah folks I really am an nutter.

Not a nutter, they are beautiful birds, I like them too. We are too far north for them here (central British Columbia), but we have other members of the corvid family, crows. Crows are just as noisy and smart but not as attractive. We had magpies in southern New Mexico and ravens in the Yukon Territory.

"Corvidae is a cosmopolitan family of oscine passerine birds that contains the crows, ravens, rooks, jackdaws, jays, magpies, treepies, choughs, and nutcrackers. In common English, they are known as the crow family, or, more technically, corvids."

Holly, Sorry about the video stopping on you, I'm not sure why it's doing that. Yes you're correct my husband was feeding magpies he does it three times a day and they are now so used to him that they are warming up to him and almost feeding off of his hand. Our crows in OZ are also black, only the magpies are black and white.

We get lots of Magpies in our Garden Anna because we have so many mature trees. ( we get lots of other birds too)..but the magpies drive me nuts with their chattering.

My o/h is like yours he loves to feed the birds, and we have a bird feeding station in the garden

Holly, They drive me nuts also. They start singing or chatting at 430 to 5am every morning and wake me up. At the moment I'm sleep deprived and running on no sleep. No offence to the birds but i'd love to just kills them sometimes Just for some sleep. (I don't really mean it but would give anything for a few hours of uninterruped sleep.)

The solution to your problem is earplugs at night. My wife buys them by the box full and sleeps like a baby.

@Anna Peters , that's like feeding the seagulls on the Swanquarter to Ocracoke ferry. They have been fed so often that they will take food right from your fingers.
