    Has anyone had or heard of any experiences with this service where staff at Ebay takes care of listing and selling your items? I assume that you would have to shipped the item as part of the process but what happens after that? What are costs that are or were incurred?

    I'm trying to stay away from doing it myself and hoping that it is viable to do. Maybe there are other things to be considered as well.

    Haven't heard of that but bet Kens wife knows. eBay sounds like too much work to me, mainly the shipping part.

    I probably could make lots of money because basically everything in my house could be sold. Well, almost.

    But big things would have to be craigslist and that scares me, so here I sit with a house full of things I never use.

    Oops, sorry...after I wrote this I saw the title. eBay Experts....that's not me.

    Actually I just received an email from Ebay on this specific subject and the sellers are called Ebay Valets. The information provided was very good but no comments from anyone who has utilized this service.

    @Chrissy Page, no worry.

    In my area there was a person who took care of all the work involved with selling on ebay. I took some items to their house, they came and picked up the rest. Then, for a percentage, they photographed, listed and shipped the sold items and brought me my check.
    I don't know if anyone still does that around here. You might check in your area.

    No expert here either. But I'm hoping to open a small vintage store on Etsy. Small things that are easy to ship. I can start with some vintage jewelry I already have and never wear. I'd love to try to move it on. I've found I probably need a new camera though for taking pictures. I'd hate to try and ship big bulky and very delicate items.

    Craigs list can be scary. My cats came from Craigs list though. I met the woman at a Walmart parking lot after talking to her on the phone.

    I am not familiar with a service where eBay takes care of the listing and selling of items. There are different levels that you can reach as a seller, each of which brings various extras, including some that involve paying eBay for your own store on eBay. My wife pays for a seller account on eBay, which makes sense only when you're selling a large number of items every month. With her account level, she can list a few hundred items a month without extra eBay fees, and the account comes with free shipping boxes and packaging materials. I don't know everything else that's involved because I haven't done any selling on eBay for a while, but she sells items for other people as well as her own stuff so she has hundreds of things up at a time. She does have to package everything up though. Other than that, UPS and the USPS pick up things that are going out at the house so she's not running back and forth to the post office or UPS shipping points. Amazon.com offers something where they handle the shipping of items that are sold but I don't think she's doing that, although she also sells stuff on Amazon.com.

    My high school chum had been urging me to sell my "collections" in eBay. She knows that I have so many used clothes that are slightly used, even shoes and sandals, handbags and other accessories. That's not to count the bric-a-bracs in my private storage like stuff toys, old toys, etc. First problem is I don't know anything about eBay. All I heard about it is you post your item and you wait for a bid. Second problem is the shipping. What if the shipping cost is greater than the value of the item? Third are the questions like where and how to ship, what's the assurance of the buyer to the seller, etc. In other words, I need to learn the ins and outs of eBay.... and I have no time for that right now.

    Pip had a computer parts business in HS.He bought used computer parts on Price Watch, cleaned them and took pictures. He then would advertise them on e-bay as being used parts. (costumers love honestly, and deserve the best you can offer them). He had a PayPal account. You have 2 ways to get the money. 1 have it set up with your checking account. 2 apply for a debit card with PayPal. Then he did his own packing, he had to use anti-static bags for some of the parts being sent. The thing is being punctual sending the orders out. E-bay has the right to close your account, if they receive to many complaints.

    We did have 2 Ebay shops in Naples (closed down) they did all the packing, shipping and handling and pictures. When it was sold, they charged 40% of the final price. It was set up for auction at these shops. At home you can advertise the price you have in mind as set price or auction it. For some around here the last option was a hobby for them.They would have at least 5 items, watching on week-ends what it would do. We always chose set price.:)
