Here is a new business looking for writers for articles, blog posts, press releases, product reviews, and other content, and I thought some of you might be interested in ContentGather. The parent company has been around for quite awhile and has a good reputation, but this is a new business model and focus. In other words, I do not believe that it is a scam.

That's weird, I saw that earlier today but when I clicked on FAQ I got an error message. Looks ok now.

I read the terms of the site as with any site it did state to sign up at your own risk, I think was #2 on the list. I had to think of what some of those risks could be other than not getting paid or someone else profitting from your contributions. I don't recall any mention of owner's rights either.

I think I need to view those terms again.

I looked at this site also. It says once you submit an article and they pay you for it, yo no longer have any rights to the article. They pay (I think it was) 20% upfront, when they accept your article, and then you get the rest of your asking price when the article sells.
Since it comes from a company that has been around for years, and had a great track record for paying right away, I don't think that there would be a problem with getting paid once the article sells.
The main thing that I was unsure about is that I have never tried to write or price and article, and I would have NO idea what to ask for the article.
It did look like they might have guidelines for prices as well, and as you write more articles, you can write ones for higher prices. Blog comments could be about almost anything, and the minimum you can write is 250 words.
I think I might like to do something like this, but it is all uncharted territory for me, so I need to investigate more before I try writing an article for submission. I am more of a story writer than an article writer, and I don't know if they have an opening for stories, either.

I wish there was a need for Chatterboxes like me. My idea of a forum is more the give and take between members
And a feeling of community and friendship not reading about something I can google.

I'm not talking about on here just in general. I would actually pay to be on a forum like that. :)

I signed up the other day. I'm not sure if I'll end up writing anything, but it is a new site, and appears to be a work in progress. I don't have any doubts about the stability of the site, nor about getting paid.

I signed up too, @Diane Lane . I wrote a couple of articles, which were accepted, and are waiting to be sold. Right now, there is a $5 bonus for any article over 500 words, and you get paid that right away. It is only good for the first 100 articles though, so if you are going to write any, you should get one submitted right away.
There are lots of categories to go for, too; so you can write about almost anything and fit it in somewhere. Ryan said he plans on expanding it once it gets going, so there will probably be more opportunities down the line.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I can't focus to write anything lengthy until my stress level goes down and I feel better. Maybe once I get past my current hurdle, I can do that. A bonus would be nice. Do you get a bonus for each one, or just the first?

I just looked at the site. Thought it had to be content that hasn't been posted already elsewhere. Read a few of the articles and I've seen them already on various forums.

Just look at something interesting you've written in the past @Diane Lane and change it up a little...that's what it looks like people are doing, at least the ones I've read.

The are giving a $5 bonus for every article up to $500, so that is 100 bonuses to be paid out. I think that I read somewhere that a person can have more than one (I did) but not over 10 of them. They are almost up to the 80% mark when I looked, so even one article would get you the bonus.
Plus, they pay 20% of the asking price for the article up front, so in a few hours of writing, I made over $20, and will make more when the articles actually sell.
They give you a guideline of how much you can ask per word, Mine was 1-3 cents , so I set it at 2 cents per word. Once you have written more articles, and your rating goes up, you an ask for more per word. You do not have to write 500 words, you can write as few as 250, but to get the $5 bonus, you have to have at least 500 words per article.

I've read a few of the samples on there and I still don't get it. Here is an example, this is about goldfish. It's about 1200 words long and the price for it is about $62....who pays for this stuff? I don't get it.

I'm not knocking it just not understanding it...$62 for about 12 lines about goldfish??

12 lines must just be an excerpt so buyers can get an idea of the content and quality. There's a large market for articles, because many people with blogs and websites don't have the time or inclination to write everything themselves. That price might be right for something that length. I haven't explored the subject enough to determine average cost per word, but I would think the site wouldn't approve those that are unreasonable, since it would turn off buyers and wouldn't benefit their bottom line or reputation.

Since I'm not a writer or interested in writing, maybe that's why I don't understand it. If I read a blog, I expect the blogger to be the one writing the article...if it's something they paid for I feel cheated.

Do these bloggers say it's their blog after they bought the article??

The ones I've read in the past (I don't have time right now to read them) have included articles by other bloggers, with credit given. There are communities of bloggers that cross-promote,and so you'll see a popular blogger with a blog post called something like, "Here's what I did with this lovely antipasto platter", and when you start reading, the article will say (for instance) if you'd like the recipe, my good friend Jane Smith has it on her site here (with link), so that the popular blogger is sending business to the others, often with some sort of compensation.

Also, many bloggers these days will get money back if you purchase something via a link on their blog. Those are called affiliate links. I have a blog, but it's all me, and I'm not as active as I should be, especially considering Christmas is coming, but mainly talk about nature, cats, my shops, etc. I do think many, if not most of those articles are sold with all rights, so the writers don't retain any rights, and the buyers can claim to be the authors, although that's dishonest in my opinion. It's the same premise as a ghost writer, I suppose, which I also don't like.
