I live in Northern California so I has to be WINCO Foods. Just don't go there at the first of the month since it's packed.

Best prices I have found on produce. Large whole Cauliflower was only $1.48 today. I like Paul Newman spaghetti sauce and always buy it there. It's cheaper. Pasta, dry refried beans in the bulk section. They stopped carrying San-J Tamari sauce so I have to get that at Safeway. Also some of the small brand cereals like Cascadian Farms and Annie's are much cheaper at WINCO. For a lot of staples, it's the cheapest. Target has good deals also in their grocery section.

I also go to Trader Joe's of coarse.

    What about your area?

Well, I live in the rural shires North of London and all the supermarkets closest to me are quite expensive ..so I'd have to go 2 towns away to get to Aldi which would be the cheapest. I do go there for some things maybe every couple of months , and my grocery bill is so much cheaper than at my closest supermarkets for duck, chicken, fish etc... ...however, I don't like a lot of the things they sell, and also they don't carry the same variety as my nearest supermarkets ..I couldn't buy a whole weeks' worth of groceries there, but the main sticking point for me shopping there is that they don't sell anything organic....

We don't have WINCO out here, at least not that I have seen; but they did have it out in Washington and Oregon, and both my son and my grandson worked at WINCO for a while , different times and different areas, of course.
The closest store to us here is called Kroger, and they have decent prices on most things, plus good markdown on things that are close to being outdated. We now have one of the Walmart neighborhood groceries about a mile away, and some thing there are higher than Kroger, and other things are cheaper; so I shop for what is the cheapest at both stores.
We also have an ALDI market that has really great prices; but it is several miles away; so I only go there if we are going that way for some other reason anyway.
Once a month, we make a trip to Sam's Club, and we stock up on the things that we buy in larger sizes, or that Sam's just has the best price on.
Our cauliflower is usually almost $3 per head here, and anything lower than that is considered a good buy; so I would love to find some at the price you got yours for, @Kitty Carmel .
Milk here is about $1 a gallon, less at ALDI, and eggs there are only about 28 cents a dozen, way less than anywhere else; so when we go to ALDI we stock up on eggs.

What is crazy is that milk was about $4 a gallon around a year ago, and I have no idea why the price is so cheap. If you get organic milk, that is about $6 a gallon, just like it always was. And a quart of coffee cream is almost $3; so I now just use milk in my coffee most of the time.
I think that the prices must just be "food wars" (like gas wars) or whatever they call it. They are both things that most everyone buys; so each store wants to drag in the customers, knowing that once they get there, they will buy more than milk and eggs.
At Kroger the eggs are around a dollar a dozen, and I think about the same at Walmart; so ALDI must be selling them for under cost just to get more customers there.

Winco is cheaper here in many things, but do not shop there much. The store is just too big for my taste. Also their produce just not that good at least here.
Walmart I go to mostly. Mainly
because they closed the 2 Krogers here last year. I only shop Walmart when most folks are not there. I do like Walmart savings catcher !
Walmart neighborhood store down the street was my favorite but not anymore.
Stopped carrying many things we liked plus sheleves always appear empty produce is not very good either.
We do not shop at my husband's store...Tom Thumb way too high on everything.
    Tried Aldi but not impressed.
Wish we had a HEB store.

We don't have a lot of choices. In Millinocket, we have a Hannaford and a Save-a-Lot but, since the Save-a-Lot makes you bring your own bags, we don't go there. In Bangor, there are only two choices in grocery stores - Hannaford and Shaws, plus an IGA just outside of Bangor. We stop at the IGA sometimes. Bangor does have a Sam's Club and a BJ's but I don't care much for buying produce from either of those, although we do buy some canned stuff there, what little canned stuff we use.

    • We have a great regional grocer, Crest market, is one of the best for prices. There's a Walmart whose grocery pricres are good. An Aldo near by but I don't shop there. We have a Sam's and another regional grocery chain. I'm not a member of Sam's but sometime go with my DIL. We have just an abundance of grocery stores.

We quit renewing our Sams Club card when it came out that their CEO refused to do business with companies whose board members were white, preferring to do business with black-owned companies. That's their business of course, but where I shop is mine, and it just happened that BJ's put up a store a few blocks away around that time, so what we would usually buy at Sam's Club we can get at BJ's. I don't buy groceries there though, other than name-brand packaged goods, because at the big-box stores (Sam's Club, BJ's, Walmart, etc.) the produce has almost no taste.

I didn't know that and it surprises me. I don't buy meat or produce at Walmart.

Walmart and Harps are the only choices in Clarksville. Walmart is cheaper but I buy most of our meat at Harps. There is also a Dollar General that has several grocery items.

There is no one grocery store over here that has cheap prices. I wait until the weekly circulars come out and then plan my shopping around the best bargains at stores near me. When I find a really good deal on something I stock up on it as much as I can. Walmart has pretty good prices for most everything so sometimes I will just do one stop shopping there if I need alot of non grocery items too.

    Thanks for your replies everyone.

WINCO, I believe, stands for Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon. I think I heard this and these are the states they are in, supposedly. I find their produce very fresh in my area. I have found their prices fluctuate and the $1.48 for the cauliflower is the cheapest I have ever noticed it @Yvonne Smith. Maybe because it's grown in California, but then we do have garlic from China here with tons of it grown in the state.

I have heard of some of these other stores mentioned like Aldi. They are in the U.S. also but not in my area. I guess if you are more rural it's harder. We don't have a super Walmart in this county yet, they have been fighting it.

Sam's Club and Costco (used to have a Costco membership) just don't work for me being single. I finally let my Costco membership go.
