    Ha, Ha!! If any avatar would "suit" me, it would be the memory of my old friend (45 years ago) Russ swilling hard hootch right from the bottle!

    Now, hey, ya didn't think that was me, did'ja? Frank

    I have this thread pinned but we still have a whole lot of members who aren't using avatars. Some of you removed your avatars because you were mad at me, and I get that. Otherwise, please, I would appreciate it if you'd upload an avatar, as this helps differentiate people within a thread and makes things look nicer. I don't care what you use as an avatar: a photo of yourself or of someone else, a cartoon image, flower, pet, or pretty much anything that isn't likely to get someone arrested. You can use anything you want. I use my photo because I couldn't think of anything prettier. Whatever you want to use, but please upload an avatar.

    @Louise Williams,

    This is nothing more than a post in the forum. You received notice of it as you have probably received notices of other posts from threads that you are watching. You will probably receive an email notice of this one as well. The forum sends them out automatically, and it's coming from my gmail.com address because people were complaining that they weren't receiving notices when I used my other email address.

    It isn't addressed to anyone in particular, and I didn't email anyone about it, and certainly not anyone in particular. If you don't want to receive email notices when someone posts in threads that you are watching:

    Go to your profile by pointing your cursor over your name in the upper right part of the page, then:
    1. Go to Privacy. Uncheck the box that reads, "Receive site mailings" if it is checked.
    2. Go to Preferences. Uncheck the box that reads, "and receive email notifications of replies" if it is checked.
    Or you could do as the email suggests, and click on the links where it says, "If you no longer wish to receive these emails, you may disable emails from this thread or disable all emails."

    If you prefer, I can do that for you.

    @Louise Williams, everyone who has those two boxes checked will receive email notifications whenever someone posts in threads that they are watching, and everyone will receive it with their own name on it. The forum automatically sends them out. All that I did is post in the forum, since that's what we do here. If you don't want them, you can uncheck those boxes, as I have described, or I can do it for you. This is nothing new.

    You should be okay now. I'm sorry it scared you but I really just posted in this thread, as I had several times before. Let me know if you're still getting them, but please use Conversation for it since this thread is about Avatars. If you are already using an avatar, then this isn't intended for you. For those of you who don't, please do.

    Ken, my apologies for not browsing extensively as I have not noticed this earlier thread of yours. Had I bumped on it ahead, I should not have created THIS THREAD and just add a reply to this thread of yours. Sorry!:(

    Now here is one of those imponderables I have wondered about quite awhile. For example, someone will want you to refer to a link and they will have the word "here". Or, as above, "this thread".

    How does one do that, without showing the URL, a link?

    Thanks. Frank
