Anyone else a fan of Google Chromebooks? We have the least expensive versions ($249.). They have 11.6" screens and are lightweight but have 8 hour running time. Chromebooks boot up within a couple of seconds, have automatic updates and built in virus protection. They seem to do everything either of us ever want to do. I;m told that they aren't really great at business application but I'm retired and not interested in business apps.

I had a problem with my first one near the end of the one year warranty. I called Google and after explaining the problem, they approved my warranty claim and sent me a refurbished (like new) replacement and I was instructed to return the problem unit in the same box and they paid the shipping charges both ways. My wife has never had a problem with either of her's except her fingernails have worn the characters off several keys on one.

It's just a matter of what you're looking for in a computer, I guess. I do a lot of work offline so a Chromebook wouldn't be a good idea for me but anyone who largely uses his computer to get online, check out Facebook, and get email, should do okay with one.
