Hi Ina, all my grandfurkids are in Spain, so I fly over to visit them a couple of times a year. When they were puppies I took care of them when my daughter was working but she moved to Spain when the eldest was just 3 years old..so I have to go and visit them now because they can't come here any more. They get sooo excited when they hear my car pulling up when I go over there. One of them (the middle one) gets so sick with excitement while I'm there he won't eat his breakfast which is his favourite meal of the day until he's seen me first. he comes and sits outside my door at my daughters' guest cottage where we stay until I get up and then he will eat.

    I'll find a photo of him....in a minute..

The summers here are quite hot..not as hot as yours of course, but here the humidity is high. This week it's been around the high 80's touching 90 a couple of days this week. I did the mowing of all the lawns today... and I was exhausted by the humidity, but unlike Spain where it's dry heat and temps of over 100 degrees sometimes and we have to have the gardens done early in the morning...we can usually do the gardening here during the day.

These are the 3 labradoodles... I have 7 grandfurkids... but the doodles are my babies who I looked after as puppies and they adore me as much as I adore them, but the one who won't eat his breakfast and follows me around every minute of the day when I'm there is Digger...he's the white one ...

I know many people only see dogs and cats when they look at such animals, but I've been very blessed to have had the love of both, and even a few other critters too. Izzy will look at me in such a way, that if I go anywhere without him, then I am guilt ridden until I get back. When I get back, I must then listen to him telling me just what a bad mommy I was to leave him at home, even when Bobert is at home with him.

But, I admit he goes most everywhere with me. He sits up real straight in his own chair at restaurants, he stays right next to me if we must stand in lines, and he never growls, nips, or bites. Never. He is so well behaved we've never been asked to leave anywhere, and generally people are impressed with his manners.

When I look at Izzy, I see a little being, not just a dog. :)

Exactly the same here Ina....that's the way I look at my grandfurkids, particualrly the doodles. They are like Izzy, extremely well behaved, I can take them anywhere and they will never shame me, and they are sooo friendly everyone wants to pet them. They are such good natured and loving dogs, and like you I see them as furry little people who are clever, smart, and loving... I'd trust a domestic animal over most people any day of the week...

Holly, will you be getting a furbaby after you retire? If so, what kind?

Most of my life I've had large dogs. I've had Alaskan Malamutes, Irish Wolfhounds, German Shepards, even a 130 pound German Rottweilers. Pit Bulls were considered medium size pooches in our family, and we tended to have four or five outside puppy dogs at a time.

But I found out recently, that I'm not as able to care for such large furbabies as I once was. My Michaels both had large dogs, and I had a good sized Golden Retriever named Amber. Amber was an inside furbaby, and trained to hand signals. She even had an inside voice and an outside voice.

But I had to let my daughter take her father and brother's dogs, because they kept knocking me down, and because I couldn't provide the level of exercise their daddies gave to them. They started escaping my fenced in yard, and when I finally got they back, they would have injuries from being hit by cars, or getting into dog fights.

Now I didn't choose Izzy, he was a rescue pup. Now Izzy at five years old, only weighs 10 pounds, which makes handling and caring for him much easier . But I find at this stage in life, Izzy is the perfect furbaby for me, and I seem to be his whole focus.

He can play fetch allllll day long.

No Ina...I won't be getting a dog sadly , not because I don't want one..I would love one, but hubs won't have one because he says they're too much of a tie, and we travel a lot...plus he doesn't want another dog in the house anyway. I am trying to talk him into allowing me to short term foster, so we'll see how that goes.

Yes you're right big dogs do cause a problem when we're older..I know my big grandfurkids get really boisterous with me and I I have to keep out of their way sometimes because they get so excited jumping up on me and now they knock me over whereas before I could just about handle them, but they're way too big and heavy now for me ...the little ones are much easier to handle.

I have 7 grandfurkids... 2 of them were rescues. 3 are big...3 are middle sized and 2 are tiny...the miniature doodle, and the chihuahua..

When I was growing up we had German shepherds, and when DD was little we Border collies and a jack Russell ...

Just reduce it a little bit Gloria in tinypic or photobucket or any picture hosting site ... or just post the thumbnail and we can click on it to enlarge it...

This morning, my grandson, who is now a licensed pilot, took my son and daughter up for a plane ride. They rented the plane for an hour from the local airport. Here is one of the pictures they sent me. There is also video, but I can't post it from the iPad unless they put it on youtube.
Anyway, this is the Cabinet Mountains which are located in northern Idaho and Montana.

oh yes that's glorious @Yvonne Smith

...I love to take pictures from the plane too...in fact some of my best pictures were taken flying over different countries. I think you may have seen them before either here or elsewhere.. :)

ETA I just noticed there's a picture I took from a plane just as we were getting ready to land back home on Page 2 of this thread ...there may be more elsewhere

Pretty neat, Yvonne! I've taken a few pics from airplanes also...my favorite views are ones off the coast of California!

Lately I've been getting the aisle seat so haven't taken a pic in awhile. :(
