Hello. It is a distinct pleasure to make your acquaintance.

My name is Robert, but I go by the simpler spoken, Bob.

I am an American citizen. I was born and lived almost all of my life in the United States. But now, much to my own shame, I am stranded on the island of Puerto Rico.

For those remembering their geography homework, Puerto Rico is officially a territory of the United States, and although its currency is the American dollar it remains unincorporated by the U.S. ( i.e., it is not one of the 50 states ).

Enough with the school lesson. Simply put, I need to get the heck off this island. Although American cities do, indeed, have their problems, I yearn with extreme intensity to get back to the U.S. mainland. Specifically, I was born, was educated, and worked for many years in New York City, but I've also lived in such cities as San Antonio, Omaha, Gaithersburg ( a suburb of Washington, D.C. ), and most recent even the small city of Medford, Oregon.

I DESPERATELY DESIRE TO RETURN TO “THE STATES,” BUT I DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL MEANS TO PAY FOR THE AIRPLANE TICKET and the FIRST MONTH'S RENT ONCE I GET THERE.

The economy here in Puerto Rico is worse than in the mainland. Its unemployment rate is depressingly hovering at around 13%, and if you don't speak the Puerto Rican language fluently ( which I don't ), you're not gonna get hired for the few, meagre, low-paying jobs that do pop up from time-to-time.

The Puerto Rican government is disastrously corrupt, and you can't get a job here unless you "know someone" who "knows someone."

Add to that the extremely loud, nocturnal frogs that make so much noise at night right outside your window you can’t get any decent sleep. To me, they sound like car alarms repeatedly chirping on and off all night long, literally tens of thousands of times a night.

So, by now you see I've got to get the heck out of P.R. and back to the U.S. Being an American citizen, I don't need a passport to get on a plane and jet back to the U.S. All I need to show the airport personnel is my Oregon Drivers License, which is still in good standing and won't expire for another seven years.

So, WHAT I NEED IS FOR YOUR DONATION TO COVER THE COST OF AN AIRPLANE TICKET WHICH I WOULD PURCHASE AT THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO.

And ONCE I ARRIVE AT MY DESTINATION, I WOULD ALSO NEED TO PROCURE A MONTH'S RENT, somewhere cheap, while I earnestly look for work.

In the past, I've worked as a law librarian, math tutor, and general office clerk. But I'm willing to try practically anything new.

The types of work that I would be available for would include, but are certainly not limited to, any of the following:
    ➤ Personal Assistant,
    ➤ Chauffeur,
➤ Home Caregiver for the elderly or injured,
    ➤ Platonic Companion,
➤ Male Nanny for school-age children,
    ➤ Bodyguard / Security, or
➤ perhaps you have a different - but legal - vocation in mind.

►⇨⇨ Please note: I WOULD BE VERY WILLING TO WORK OFF WHATEVER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE YOU PROVIDE ME.

►⇨⇨ In other words, I WOULD WORK AT THE JOB YOU REQUIRE AND EVERY WEEK AN ACCOUNTING COULD BE DONE LOWERING WHAT I OWE YOU UNTIL I HAVE WORKED OFF EVERY DOLLAR.

In describing myself, I am a summa cum laude college graduate, have a serious demeanor that is tempered by a cheerful sense of humor, am clean, neat, quiet, gentle, reliable, honest, tolerant of various orientations, am sensitive to others' feelings, concerns, and issues, have a decently good driving record, and certainly no criminal record.

    ••• I am completely drug-free ( in fact, I find the odor of burnt Cannabis hideously repulsive );
••• I do not drink any alcohol ( not even an occasional can of lite beer, never liked the salivary aftertaste ); and
••• I do not smoke cigarettes ( not just for personal health reasons but also to not subject anyone around me to the cancerous second-hand smoke ).

I am not married nor am I attached to anyone else. I have no children and no pets. And all of my worldly possessions can fit snugly inside one duffle bag and one piece of wheeled luggage.

So, to recapitulate, I AM IN EXTREME NEED OF AN AIRPLANE TICKET BACK TO THE UNITED STATES and for THE FIRST MONTH'S RENT.

Which State and which City ? Well, I’m hoping for a city where the economy isn’t too bad. I mean, my intention is to apply for jobs as soon as I get there.

Since I’m from New York, I’m thinking of trying to re–establish myself there. It’s as good a place as any.

Getting me flown over there is going to take one awesome Superhero Senior Citizen. Is that person you ?

Or, maybe, it will take two or three Superhero Senior Citizens teaming up together and pooling their resources for the express purpose of getting this life-saving project accomplished successfully. ( Nothing new, really. Superheroes are always teaming up in the movies. )

Of course, we need to talk first. In the way of an initial response, you can just send a reply to my email address given below and we’ll take it from there.

After a few emails, texts, conversations, and sharing of pics / video clips, if you feel comfortable with me and I feel comfortable with you, we can try and meet. Or I can meet with someone you know who’s already here in Puerto Rico. Or you can decide to go just go ahead and send me whatever donation you feel comfortable with. You decide. Your choice.

The decision is yours, and I trust that your heart will guide you in your decision-making process.

The specific municipality in Puerto Rico that I am currently stranded in is Humacao, which is in the middle of the eastern coast of the island.

But it's not too far from the city of San Juan, where the International Airport is, as well as the ritzy hotels, posh restaurants, and trendy nightclubs. As such, that's also where almost all of the tourists spend their whole time while on the island. It's really nice there. Not so nice in Humacao, however. Trust me.

Well, I guess this the end of my plea to all the Superhero Senior Citizens in the United States. If you can, if you are truly able to, please help me.

If not, it's okay. At least you took the time to read this electronic shout-out for help. Offering a sincere Thank You and Much Obliged.

    Waiting with bated breath,
    Bob Diaz

P.S. I recently set up a "GoFundMe" webpage describing my current situation. GoFundMe is currently the most popular donation website for people who, like me, are experiencing a personal crisis. You can see it by clicking on the link:

And once again, thanks for having a heart.
