With all the change and the technology around, what would retirement life be towards the 21st century?
Aside from the usual support of our families, how will seniors cope and live their retirement life as we end the first century on the 3rd millennium ending year 2099?

    More challenges with technology.
The computer age at this point has no plan of stopping its advanced changes and people including retirees need to cope with it. Health and medical science will be largely affected in treating patients like seniors, newborns and the rest of the population.

    The alpha and omega.
As technology advanced, people will greatly focus on 2 of the most important life subjects: The alpha, which was the start of life covering the subjects from fertility, pregnancy, birth and cloning. Yes, cloning was an open subject especially to those places where population was greatly at risk. The omega, which was the end and retiring of life but more on the focus of longevity and finding that elusive 'fountain of life.'

    Retirement and senior communities.
As part of the society, people are planning and conceiving ways about retirement life and a community of seniors, like our virtual community here will be a likely focus of attention with amenities, means of conveniences and ease of mobility with ergonomic facilities and productivity for the seniors on their age of retirement.

    Age with technology.
It is good to note, that senior life will also advanced just like how technology does. Simply because, today's technology thinking minds are currently planning their own retirement life.

What do you think were the things for seniors on the 21st century?

What I want in technology is the innovations in the medical field. When my husband's brother was here last January, he related his job in a health center. He is a caregiver for PWD (person with disability) but not the kind of work that we have in mind. He said that his main job is just to monitor the gadgets in the center. A beep will sound when it is time to attend to the patient whether to feed or to administer medicine. The caregiver is also informed (by the gadget or computer) when the patient needed to be moved in position to prevent bedsore. And moving the patient is not difficult because the bed is also mechanized and all the caregiver does is to push a button.

With the lifestyle, I can see a lot of changes particularly in the entertainment. I have read yesterday an article about Virtual Reality games. There is a headgear that covers the eyes and ears to give the player a semblance that he is in another world hence the name virtual reality. And the gadget is so realistic that the player loses his sense of reality even after the game is over.

Have you noticed that online shopping is getting to be the trend? That's what I liked most in technology.

I agree. I want technology the most in the medical field. I want technological advancements in diagnostic tools and surgery. I would also like to see technological advancements that would allow older folks to live longer and safer on thier own.

Maybe you were talking about this one called Oculus Rift:

Oculus Rift's Gear VR was being sold through Facebook currently for $99 according to Facebook's CEO's Mark Zuckerberg. But Samsung, its manufacturer plans to bundle it for free to people who pre-order Samsung's latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

I hope we never stop being human in our care of seniors, and be sure to keep dispensing compassion along with technology.;)

Joe, I second you on this one. Those people of technology who's building or making technology matters, I just wish and hope they will also think about things that would not only make ease and convenience for themselves but likewise to the seniors of the future. but whatever it takes, let's all be for technology and advancement and look forward to it to better people's lives. :)

Nothing will ever be better than : smiles, hugs, time given, hand-holding and patience whatever technology is available. And I hope that those signs of humanity towards the most vulnerable in society will always exist.

Hmm, feeling the way I do now with bursitis, I believe the 21 century for Seniors will have more exercise areas in homes for us. I think that there would be more gardens so we can grow our own food so we can be self-sufficient too. I know we will probably have more technology at our fingertips too. :D

Those new gadgets are more appreciated if you are surrounded with a loving family, sons and daughters or devoted nieces and nephews, to step in and tinker those gadgets with you.
