I've seen many stories about a Day of Unity or similar scheduled for tomorrow, July 15th. I've also seen mention that a 'day of rage' is being reported on the dark web (the underground internet), and that the gatherings designed to bring everyone together will be taken over by those looking to cause problems and could result in violence. Since we've already seen highways disrupted, traffic blocked, and people attacked, I would think it wise to abstain from attending these events just in case. Here's one of the links I've seen on the subject.

The mainstream media isn't reporting this, that I'm aware of, but that's not surprising. It may or may not come to pass, but I think it's important to be aware of the possibility ahead of time, so we can decide whether we want to take a chance on getting caught up in that type of situation. Snopes says this is false, but I don't entirely trust Snopes as a source, so that doesn't settle the matter for me.

When I Googled it, this came up:

BUT, it's now a broken link. I don't know what that means, but I'd still be cautious in my travels tomorrow and over the weekend, especially if I lived in/near a large city.

I don't know of anyone who is planning on hiding indoors tomorrow, nor am I. Just another day.

But for those who choose to get caught up in all the nonsense, make sure you have plenty of canned food, bottled water, and toilet paper.

I live in Maine. We don't have days of rage. Maybe Portland because the idiots in Portland like to pretend they're in Boston sometimes, but I doubt it.

Maybe I am a moderate but I still argue that activists (at least in this part of the earth) have been the cause of so many violent protests. One thing I don't like in those activists is the way they condemn whatever it is they are protesting of. One time there was this protest against Americans where the activists are lined up in front of the US embassy in Manila. The one being interviewed is a young guy who has an obvious dislike for America and probably anything American. It was hilarious when the camera of the tv network made a close up shot of the guy's shirt bearing the logo of an American product.

With this thread, just the title of the event is already negative. My question is this - what is the purpose of that day of rage and what do the organizers aim to achieve.. aside from violence?

I didn't hear any days of Rage for Fresno but I'm usually out of the loop. I stick to my nice corner of the world and don't ever venture downtown, seldom read the news about what's going on here either. Just check weather and it's
    105 today.
Maybe it's too hot for Rage here. People are seldom outside during the day.

Maybe it's our demographics....half of Fresno is white, the other half is Hispanic. Blacks, Asians make up a very small percentage.

Good question there, Corie. I don't know the answer except to say that "aside from violence" that you said, there probably is nothing. Just violence. It's not to gain respect because it makes participants look terrible. It fuels. So... it has to be just for the sake of violence because it's pulling participants back into an era we'd been slowly trying to claw our way out of for decades. (Note I said "trying.")

I just looked at our news and the rage here is about the white boy who was shot by police. He didn't have a weapon. I just saw the video for the first time. Why people don't listen when police have guns aimed at you and tell you to do something is beyond me. They said they will shoot and he just didn't care. The anger here seems to be that the last 2 shots shouldn't have been fired.

I'm seeing a lot of videos lately on what to do if you are pulled over by the police. There's one here now about how to act if you have a CCW and are stopped.

Everyone is on edge lately and that includes police, especially after Dallas.

Why can't they just show their hands? If this 18 yr old was my son and had survived, I would have smacked him silly for being so stupid.

That's where the problem lies as I see it, yes. Sure you're probably not doing anything wrong, but law enforcement doesn't KNOW that... and they sure don't want their wives to get "that call" that particular day. I agree... if they say show your hands, why the devil wouldn't you just show your hands?! Like with that guy selling CDs a week or so ago... same as this.... he resisted arrest and was shot. Outrage from the public of course  even though he was a convicted felon AND had an illegally owned weapon in his pocket with his HAND on it? I think it's just outrage for the sake of outrage now.

And then there's the crazy "suicide by cop" thing... which is another whole problem.

Furthermore (hehe Hush UP, Mari!) how could anyone possibly think that "rage" will get them ahead?! I think not enough people are well versed in problem solving and get it mixed up with problem MAKING. :( It's not going to get them *anything* at all.

I have been seeing it mentioned more over the past few days, @Chrissy Page. Apparently his story was brought to the attention of Black Lives Matter, but they weren't interested, since he wasn't black. From what I read, it seems he was intent on some sort of confrontation, which is what he got. I agree, though, the last shot or two probably weren't necessary, but once someone's been made to feel threatened, whether a civilian or police officer, I think it's hard to stop the adrenaline. He'd clearly been instructed what to do, yet refused, and continued to approach the officers. Once he was on the ground would have been a good time to stop shooting. That would have been viewed better by those reviewing the actions after the fact, but I'm tired of parents and others defending the wrong actions of their loved ones. If I refrain from doing something because I know it's stupid or foolhardy, I expect others to do the same. If not, there are consequences. Cops can't freeze time and ponder on which action would look best after the fact. They make decisions based on the information available at the time, and I'm tired of armchair quarterbacks (no one here, just others I've seen commenting) stating the officers should have aimed for the gun in the person's hand, their arm or leg, etc. It's pretty obvious most of those commenting have never shot a gun or been in a similar situation, and aren't familiar with how best to handle those situations.

The last list I saw had expanded the number of cities supposedly involved in/affected by the possible gatherings. I saw a story earlier about a child (the other day/night) being blocked from getting to St. Jude's hospital somewhere in Tennessee, and that traffic was disrupted for hours. Peaceful assembly doesn't include blocking thoroughfares and preventing people from going about their business, nor from being able to obtain medical care.

I saw that story also about the child being blocked in traffic. I do think these types of protests like blocking traffic do absolutely no good, in fact it will have the opposite affect.

Sometimes I think that's what some people want, to cause trouble and not solve problems.
