Planetary engineering is not a new science. In fact ever since man has been in constant quest in discovering other planets in the universe fit for human existence and sustainability. The latest on these planetary habitation discovery ever since man landed on moon was our neighbor red planet - Mars.

For decades, brilliant minds and scientists have been formulating, experimenting and designing on different phases of habitation in Mars.

Do you think human habitation on Mars can be in the nearest decades? Are you ready and willing to take the next galactic trip to Mars?

Although this is more of science that I cannot fully comprehend, I like the idea of space exploration. When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969, our tv was running for several days and nights, just seeing nothing but space. That was the live coverage of the memorable event. And when Armstrong made that epic remark about the small step, we heard that on tv (I just forgot if it was day or night then).

With Mars, it is a mysterious planet that some still insist on the possibility of life. By the way, I just read in the New York Times supplement of last week that China had declared the intention to land a spaceship on Mars in the year 2020. With terraforming, what I understand is making the place habitable so vegetation is required to produce oxygen that humans need. But before that, water is a major requirement for the vegetation so I think terraforming a planet is a tall order to accomplish.

I dunno about China been reading some scientific breakthroughs nowadays but all I can say was that they were all just pure publicity of competition with the western world about some science. They haven't even perfected yet their very own space exploration of landing their own spacecraft even on moon (or maybe there was but it was published in Chinese so we cannot understand a thing about it! lols!)so what Mars quest are they talking about?

But certainly, terraforming Mars was now an open concept for possible human habitation through planetary engineering. And I definitely agree with you Corie that terraforming was an enormous expedition and maybe the next decade will not be enough time to have a colony of humans(remember Mars One project?) inhabit a certain part of the red planet now that our Earth is becoming so congested and so heavily being destroyed by industrialization, etc. to make way for the so-called human progression and development. I just hope that before Mother Earth gives up on us humans, Mars or any other planetary option of habitation will be readily available.

In the next 20 years? (you mentioned decades) I am going to be a party pooper and say no. I say this because of the money needed to do this will probably not be available. The money needed for this will be used to build up the military, deal with immigration issues, and toward healthcare as the baby boomers are advancing in age.

Honestly Beth, I really have no idea if it will be either in the next 20 years. But if the Mars One expedition will guarantee human safety and habitation in Mars, maybe I can go party in there. Just one problem though with me. I'm a timid party goer and would probably be just a wall flower instead. But hey, if there would be internet around there I can send some Selfie and post it here! :p
