I am curious how many people have upgraded to WIndows 10 and what they think of it? Natually, I along with everyone else who uses windows, has been given notifications to upgrade. The fact that my bandwidth is metered is something that keeps me from upgrading. I have trouble keeping my data to an acceptable limit with win 8 and I know 10 takes more. What do you think of Windows 10?
We seldom use our PC but we have upgraded it to Windows 10. I haven't noticed anything earth shattering either way. Maybe if I used the PC more often, I'd have a better idea.
It is free now, but I have heard in the future that you are going to have to pay for it. I think it is good, but like I said, my data issue keeps me from downloading it. I suppose people buying new PCS will have it as part of their PC experience. It is just something that Microsoft does, like all tech industries do, to keep their consumers thinking they need to buy the next new product.
FYI, Microsoft is now automatically installing Windows 10 on some PC's. It happened on my wife's laptop yesterday AM and there was no way to stop it. We really like Windows 7 and, after doing some research about 7, found out that the serious Security updates will continue well into 2020. I looked at Windows 10, after it downloaded on the laptop...........didn't like! Unfortunately, I think all new PC's that are sold, come with Windows 10. With Windows 7, have all of our program icons on the screen. Also, just couldn't figure out how to connect our WiFi/Router to Windows 10. Wife and I decided that, if possible, I would just delete 10 and return to 7. So, found an area on Windows 10 to uninstall it and return to Windows 7. It took very little time to delete 10 out and bring 7 back. When 7 was back, I was automatically on WiFi/Router again. Actually, we kept Windows XP up until all updates stopped. Then we bought Windows 7 (Home Edition) online (disc shipped to us) and I installed it. People have complained to much about Windows 8, so we avoided that one.
If you click on it accidentally it will install itself, I had that problem on another computer a few months ago. The download, and the resulting extra usage, caused me to use most of my data for the month. There are things you can use online, that will keep it from installing, but I haven't used those. Win 10 is in windows updates as a huge optional update. I control what updates go on my computer and when..so it is not going to install itself again.
I have 7 and ill keep it till it sinks beneath the waves. I found a way to "hide" MS10 and keep it off this machine
Even though I said, in a previous post that I didn't like Windows 10, when it automatically downloaded on my wife's laptop and I was able to take it out and go back to Windows 7, our new desktop came with it. Our old desktop was just too old to use anymore. We bought it in late 2005 and it just wasn't functioning that good/fast anymore. I use it darn near every day. Anyway, I'm now finding out just how good/fast Windows 10 really is. It's definitely different from the previous Windows, but I'm learning pretty fast. Just ordered a microphone so I can use Corina "voice activated" Internet helper. Windows 7 was nice, but actually Windows 10 is much better!
I have a friend who uses 10 and loves it. He liked 7 also, but hated 8 for some reason. I'm still stuck with Vista, and will have that until I come into some money, or win a newer computer. I would be o.k. with upgrading to 7, but I don't have the money to spend on something like that right now. I recall someone else saying their computer automatically upgraded to Windows 10 as well, and it could be that one of her children hit something accidentally that did it, but once 10 was on the computer, she couldn't get it to do anything for some reason. So, it seems people have had mixed experiences with 10. I think she was finally able to reverse the process like @Cody did, and got her computer working again.
I try to remember to avoid talking about overthrowing the government while our PC is on, knowing that Windows 10 reports everything that is said in the room to the NSA, but I otherwise like Windows 10 well enough. I wouldn't trade either of my Macs in for it, but it seems to work well enough.
I have Windows 10 on three different computers but decided not to put it on my Windows 7 computer. For a couple of reasons one being the programs I use won't work on Windows 10, and mostly because I don't like having anything forced on me when I say "NO", which the crew of this new operating system are doing. So if you too are trying to ward of getting Windows 10 then watch the video's to learn how to stop it from loading which I am going to add in my next post. First off if your already getting the download notices then you have to be very careful in how you stop it from happening. If it says it's going to do it now turn off your computer right away or disconnect it from the internet. DO NOT click the X in the upper corner to close out the screen this tells it you want the download. Tricky business. You also need to view the updates your computer wants to install. If you find the following updates in the list to download or already in your computer, highlight them and delete them. Watch for KB3114996 and KB3035583, K2952664 and KB2976798. these tell your computer to download Windows 10.
This video is very good. I am using the program he tells about and it is working. I was really interested in what both of these men had to say and I hope you are helped by this two video's and if nothing else it gives us more to talk about.
I have been seeing this Windows 10 as a big deal in some forums. There are even claims that Microsoft is spying on the users of Windows 10 by collecting their information. My laptop in the office is running on Window 7 - we did not upgrade to Windows 8 because there were also issues and now the techs in the office are evaluating Windows 10. There is word that Windows 10 is okay and we may be doing an upgrade before the end of the year. I'm sure there will be adjustments by the users and I hope it would not complicate the operation. Our home desktop is still on Windows XP because it is only for simple applications and there's not much need for a new operating system.
Windows 10 does include the ability to spy on people. That doesn't mean that they are, of course, but you've got to wonder why they felt the need to include the possibility, and whether the government might ask them for access to specific targets using Windows 10.
I have two PCs and only upgraded the newest one to Windows 10 only because it is more of a back up PC and there aren't any programs on it for personal use. When I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on the PC that I use 24/7 I had the hardest time trying to access my files and some of the programs so I reversed back to Windows 7. My son was encouraging me to try it again because July 31st would be the last day Windows 10 would be available as a free upgrade. Not. I have been very happy with Windows 7. I don't expect this PC to last forever but for now it and Windows 7 are what works best for me.
I have Windows 10 on my only PC, but I seldom use it. Every now and then, if I have a message that I want to send to the government, I'll turn the PC on, sit in front of it and let Windows 10 know what I think. It's a lot easier than calling my congresspeople, and at least as effective.
