I finally finished the book about the Fort Hood terrorist/non terrorist/workplace violence attack, and am now reading Days of Rage. I have to return it on or by Monday, so I really need to get back on track. days of rage.jpg

I'm still reading Days of Rage. I'm going to take it and the kitties out on the balcony in a bit and read in the sun. We did that yesterday, too. My fingers are crossed that I'll be able to finish it and return it to the library tomorrow. I don't want late fees. I wish I could renew it again, but I guess twice is the maximum. The kitties are enjoying the extra time outside, and the sun and fresh air is helping, despite the excess pollen.

I've just read my own novel and despite the best efforts of me and my proofreader, there are a few bloopers. Infuriating. There are many worse things in this world, but I still feel galled.

Still, now that I've finished this second-rate tripe, I can move on to some decent literature. Time for a bit more Dickens, Nicholas Nickleby in this case. This is my ninth Dickens novel and my first visit to his early works. Only seven more to go after this one.

I belong to the Amazon program that gives you a free book each month, called Kindle First. They have a choice of several new books and you just pick out the one you want.
You have to have Prime to get it free, but otherwise it is $1.99, which is still cheap for a good book. The books normally sell for $5.99 and up.
The book that I chose this time is called "Blood Defense", and it is by Marcia Clark, who was the prosecuting attorney for the OJ Simpson trial. I just started reading it last night, and poor Bobby had to practically drag me away from the book and off to bed !
I usually have several books at a time that I am reading, some for learning, and something just for entertainment. The one I am studying right now is called "Genesis" by Rob Skiba, and it correlates the book of Genesis with the other non-caonized books of Enoch, Jasher, and Jubilees, which were all read by the ancient teachers of scripture, and are mentioned in the Bible.

I have been reading the Kindle ebook by Dr. Mercola, Effortless Healing, and adding the suggestions as I go along.
Some of them are pretty simple, such as "grounding", which only involves walking barefoot in the grass for a while each day. I have always enjoyed walking barefoot in the grass, and even more on a sandy ocean beach, both of which are part of grounding.
According to the book, we all have an electrical charge, and so does the earth, and when our bare feet are on the earth, it recharges up our batteries. The book tells about one lady who felt better when she ust sat out in her yard with her feet in the grass, so walking is not necessary, just having the skin connecting to the earth.

I am only part way through the book, but I have learned some great ideas for improving my health, and am hoping to see some results once I finish the book and implement all (or at least most) of the ideas in the book. Dr. Mercola does a lot of research in natural healing, and I think this book was one of the best health books that I have ever bought.

Spent alot of time reading biographies and autobiographies these past few weeks. Elizabeth Edwards, Shania Twain, Karen Carpenter, Patrick Swayze and Lisa Neimi. Reading these books made me realize that no matter how famous we are, or how much money we have, etc. we all have problems and trials in this life. We all hurt, go through pain and sorrow, and wish some things had turned out different in our lives. When all is said and done...it is not what we go through that makes or breaks us..it is how we choose to deal with them and our attitude towards the things we go through. It is whether we look for the blessings even among the worst life hands us and know that if we loved and were loved in return...we were blessed.

I just finished Run, by Blake Crouch. He's the one who wrote the Wayward Pines trilogy, which I plan to read next, after the one I'm currently reading, which is Predatory Kill, by Kenneth Eade. It's a Brent Marks Legal Thriller, and is quite interesting. These are all e-books that I'm reading on my tablet via the Kindle app. Run was a library book I e-borrowed, and my library has other Blake Crouch books that I'll e-borrow once I'm finished with this book and the Wayward Pines Trilogy, which I bought, since they were on sale for $1.99 apiece.

Currently, I am reading Missing Mom. It is a true life story of an elderly woman who was kidnapped and murdered in Flint Michigan about 15 years ago. It is written by one of her sons. It is not really gruesome, it is as uplifting as it is sad, strange to say. I like the book alot. I guess when a loved one is murdered you can choose to live your life in a way that would make them proud,,instead of falling apart.

In 2004, when Blake Crouch published his first novel, Desert Places, he sent me a copy and asked me to review it for the Magic City Morning Star, which I was publishing at the time.

That's pretty incredible, @Ken Anderson, did you read and review it? If so, what did you think? I enjoyed Run a lot, and will definitely check out his other books. I don't know why I always thought Stephen King wrote the Wayward Pines series. Perhaps they have similar writing styles. I'm glad I happened to catch the Wayward Pines books on sale the other day, because my library doesn't have them, although they do have at least some of his other books. Other than Run and Wayward Pines, I'm probably going to try to read his books in the order in which they were written, unless I'm not able to because of availability.

Yes, the link that I left is to my review on the book. I don't publish the Magic City Morning Star anymore, but it's still online.

For some reason, I missed the link. I'll read your review, thanks!

@Ruby Begonia I'm going to see if my library has Monet's Table, that looks fascinating.

I just finished the Kenneth Eade book. I'm going to eventually read the others, but my library doesn't have any of them, unfortunately, so I'll have to wait a bit.

@Yvonne Smith I don't recall where you posted it, but I wasn't even aware about the Kindle Cloud until you mentioned it, so thank you. My tablet's chock full of books I've downloaded, which is probably why it's running out of resources and isn't working very well. I'm going to upload books to the cloud in the future.

I'm reading "I'm a Big Sister" by Joanna Cole. It's a great book to buy for your grandchild who is going to be a big sister soon. You will enjoy reading it as much as she will love having it read to her. :)
