Pretty cool, Val! In the opening when I saw all those dirty dishes, I really didn't want to see the rest of her house!

I'm reminded of the friend of mine whose washing machine broke down. Now, most of us would get the thing fixed and either wash things by hand or trudge to the nearest launderette, but no, not this fellow. His solution? Buy a heap of new clothes.

Tom, I have often said that if I was filthy rich, I mean really rich, I would never pack for vacation! I would buy everything new when I arrived at my destination, and donate it all before I returned home!
As for cleaning tips, I've got a great one:
    1 cup white vinegar
    2 cups water
    1 Tbsp. Dawn dish detergent
Mixed and poured into a spray bottle, this can be used for everything in your bathroom. I spray the walls of my shower, and my tub, leave it for awhile, come back and rinse, and everything sparkles!

@Val White ..Now I know what to do when my grandson makes a mess. I'll just give him a paper towel and tell him to 'spit' on it and wipe it up:rolleyes:. He'll love that:D

The other thing that those of us of a certain age have to remember is that whenever we are kneeling down to do something, it's always worth asking the question, "What else can I do while I'm down here?".

I use vinegar in the laundry to remove unpleasant odors from the clothes that soap alone will not remove. Good tips, I didn't know about the red wine spots on the carpet.

I do this same thing because I'm not insane to buy perfumed liquid fabrics softeners.

Because this is another fact, vinegar does not only removes unpleasant odors, but softens texture of washed clothes like a charm.

Now wondering how to remove humidity odor from the ambiance. Just moved to a new apartment not long ago, and there is a persistent humidity odor despite all most has gone, and I can't afford to install a desiccant air-conditioning system, which is what a friend of mine advised me.

Thank you so much Von, this information comes really handy because forgot to mention another fact I didn't realize until doing laundry past weekend.

Happens that all my clothes stored in drawers are picking not just humidity smell but some of them have mold traces. Maybe putting these packs into the drawers I can avoid this because after washing one of the affected shirts, it looks now worn out and with marks looking much like if someone would spill acid on it.

:oops:Thank you VAl for the video tip. Learned a lot. Everything but the spit to clean was good. I don't think I'll use spit to clean things though. One thing I found out about blood stains is that peroxide gets out blood stains especially if they are old blood stains. I tried Clorox, it didn't work. I tried vinegar it didn't work. I went to thriftyfun.com where I'm a member and got my solution! Just dab peroxide to the blood stains and wash the item regularly and the blood came out! The blood was from my Mom when she fell and had to go to the hospital. Thanks again for the tip video!

Oh Krissttina surely you have not forgotten how your Mother could always heal that scratched knee or bumped head with her magic spit and a kiss.:)

I have humidity issues here at the house, as well. I've used Damp Rid in the past, but you have to be careful with that around pets. I had a major water leak here several years back, and placed a container of Damp Rid on the bar counter downstairs. I wasn't worried about my pets drinking/eating it, since it was in an enclosed container, but what I didn't anticipate, was that one of them would knock it down onto my leather furniture. It sucked all of the liquid out of the leather, and ruined my ottoman.

I love using vinegar around the house for cleaning, killing weeds, and also in the laundry. I keep a bottle of it in the laundry room and just toss some in with each load. It takes care of any odors, and even helps with the occasional pet accident.
