I cheat. Ours came with a plastic refreezable water container that screws into the lid of the cooler. But I think a milk jug in the freezer till needed would work just as well.

2012 Toyota Camry. This son elected not to go to college and went to trade school instead. He had many highly-paid job offers before he graduated from the 18-month course with no debt and a truck full of tools mostly paid for by state grants. My requirement for my children was that they take some kind of post high school education, be it college. trade school or apprenticeship. This son is my youngest and after seeing the cost run up by his siblings elected to attend a state-run trade school. He is now the highest paid of the 6 and runs a big shop at 26 years old.

That's the way to do it. He not only has marketable job skills, he's got life & self-sustainability skills. He's probably more satisfied at the end of the day than most coat & tie types I knew.

Watching the forum, there have been a lot of complaints about medical stuff. I have my own complaints. I have been trying to make appointments at several places and found it impossible. Even when I am due for an annual something-or-other, they call me then put me into a telephone tree that sometimes is inescapable. Bad enough when I call them and get put on hold for 30 minutes to an hour, or I leave a message to have them call me back and they never do. This stuff never happened to me prior to the "pandemic", so I wonder what changed. Dealing with government entities like the VA got significantly better under the Trump administration, but have gotten worse than terrible since Biden took over. I don't know if all vats have experienced this or if it is just in Alaska. Even the non-government doctors practices have gotten hard to deal with. I refuse to cooperate with all this, and won't knuckle under to this nonsense. If I die, I die.

Here in Louisiana it has always been bad. I called two years ago to get a new primary care so I could start back using the VA. I never heard from them again, before I stopped using them they had 1/3rd the usual workforce they had in around 2008 and the few times I did go back before I quit for good, they had very little traffic inside. My last visit was one morning around 9am after I drove an old friend to his doctors appointment. He was getting blood transfusions twice a week but he was using the large local hospital. I drove over to the VA thinking it was a good time to go since I did not have to bring the friend home until late in the afternoon. So I go in and they told me to have a seat in the area to see a doctor, I sat there until 2:30 and never had anyone even look at me from a distance. That was the last time I wasted my time. Today with the cost of medicine I need to go back and get my prescriptions started again so I can drive one block to pick them up at the post office instead of the old 8 mile round trip. They recently opened the local clinic just a block from me so it is 1 minute from my place. I stopped using them too because they let me stand at Walmart's counter waiting for a prescription that was never called in. Very poor healthcare in this state. There was one man in a wheelchair with his wife and he managed to sit on the couch with help from her but when they called him he was struggling to get back in his wheelchair. I saw no one was going to help the guy so I got up and walked over and helped him standup and get back into his chair. That was my last visit and I was there to use the van leaving there for New Orleans just so some young Indian heart doctor came out to where I was waiting and he shook my hand and told me that we wouldn't be doing anything today. My reason to be there was to get the results from my recent stress testing. I already knew the results because I took the test at Oshners medical center Baton Rouge. Nothing was found yet the VA made me get up at 5am and drive in a very bad fog to get to Baton Rouge and sit and wait for their van going to New Orleans for what I have no idea. I could go on but I don't have enough time. Oh before I close I have to say when I got back to the VA parking lot in Baton Rouge and started home there had been a wreck on I-10 coming from Lafayette thereby detouring traffic back to old 190 and it was bumper to bumper for 45 miles. :(

My sentiments exactly. The indians used to say "It's a good day to die." before going into difficult times. Now days, we are accused of being depressed if we think that way. I just see it as matter of fact. I fix what I can and don't put up with insurance or pharma nonsense.

I will be 75 in August. I have already lived longer that some immediate family members. I don't mess with he annual tests as of last year. Never had a wellness exam. I only go to doctor with something of a specific need. That may not work for everyone. I just see no need n trying too
force myself to live longer than intended. No. not depressed or am I ready to go,but I hope to not leave a trail of bills behind, for husband, especialy if the care did not work. ;)

Same for me, 31st Aug 1948. Wish I could go back in time and start over, it was a great time to be alive. My first school Berry Elementary I started Kindergarten at 5, rode an old 1950 all Black Non windowed Chevy panel van, had wooden benches one each side of the back. My driver's name was Mrs Misser, she had this gnarly Black Mustache heh. I would walk home by myself at noon about 3 city blocks. They razed the school two years ago and built a new modern school on the far end of the property. I loved the May Fairs and other activities. Favorite time was cookie time just before nap time, you had a choice of those two slim cookies in a wax paper baggy, Chocolate or Vanilla with a half a pint of cold milk one paper straw. I will never forget those brown paper towels that felt like sand paper when you wiped your mouth. My Teacher's name was Miss Honeycutt, the Principals name was Mr Green. I gave all the photos my Grandmother had over the years to my Sister and she gave them to her son so I will never see them again. A shame because I had the annual school photos standing on a small 3 tier little bleacher in front of the school. :D

I have friends, he is 89 and she is 82. They started a business about 7 years ago manufacturing a yard game. They work all the time. It is now going great guns as they customize their boards and the game is going national. Corn Hole boards. Whodda thunk? But I guess croquette was new at some point in history too. One can start over, I guess.;)

Your 80+ friends have the right idea. A lot of us including myself feel like we're just hanging on and waiting to die after retiring. Have to get into something but what?

I totally agree. If I have another diagnosis of any serious illness I will opt for palliative care and no "curative intent." I have traveled that road and don't plan to do so again.

Rant for Today (from the No One Is Surprised Department): The "pro" who was supposed to arrive here at 11 a.m. to powerwash our house isn't here yet. Tick, tock. I wish our teenage grandsons lived closer.

Depends what you enjoy, if you like to do some simple gaming you can get into making games using any number of different software s . There are open source free engines and even the good paid engines have a free version slightly throttled back giving less game Events, paid is unlimited Events. You still can do what ever is needed but have to use a different approach in some cases. I use Construct 3 Paid and also have the licensed Construct 2. This newer version is much better overall but I've found I can still use my old version and do what I do. To work with images you can use the free... The Gimp... which is a poor mans Photoshop. It can actually do the same things as Photoshop but the interface is a bit different. You would be working with 2d images so any image editor would work. I have found everything online that can be used and free. Of course I have my own tools but at times I still need to use something online and it is always there. One thing about Construct 3 is that the asset store has dirt cheap ready made sprites or images which are the same, anything or image in 2d is a sprite in gaming. You can make top-down games, space shooters, Endless runner games and a lot more. Only two measurements in Construct 3 which are Pixels and Degrees. The engine is written in Java Script. Recently they enabled Construct 3 to use your own scripts. It don't take long to learn how to use the engine because it is documented and has examples with correct code blocks you can use for something you're working on. It is a real good engine and probably the best to learn how to make 2d games. Not the most expensive but still the best. Construct 3 is an online engine now but if you use the paid version you can work offline. They recently have built an animation engine but I see no need for it for my little games. You can build and compile for all devices and PC. I use PC because the small devices cannot handle realistic imaging but use pixel characters. Realistic imaging makes the game a lot more fun. You can just search or google 2d game engines and use Free sources or Paid. Easy to find them. Here is Construct 3 url
