One Of My Cats Is Missing

First of all let me explain that my cats are outdoor cats. They started out as members of a ferral community well actually the mother cat Pepper did. She sort of became attach to my family when she would follow other cats to our yard to get food and water. Eventually we more or less adopted her, and along with her the four off spring she had. We can't let them in our house because we live with a brother who only tolerates the cats to a certain degree and refuses to let them come into the home, so they remain ouside wheich means they can leave the yard and roam the neighborhood.

Anyway, about two weeks ago Pepper left our yard and never returned. We have been concerned about her ever since, especially my sister who put out the money to have Pepper and her two daughters fixed so there wouldn't be anymore kittens between the three of them. I keep telling myself that cats are survivors and that Pepper is out there somewhere all right, but I still can't help but worry.

 

I'm so sorry! I'm praying that your kitty comes home safe and sound! Do call your local animal shelter. We found one of ours there once, thanks to a cranky neighbor.

 

I used to have three cats, and somehow all three of them managed to get out. My cats were inside cats so being out was probably a scary situation. My one cat came back right away, he was meowing at the back door and not having any of that world. My second cat took awhile, she holed up in a cat crate in the garage next door but we finally got her after a few days. My last cat was gone over a year, and I worried she would never ever return, but she finally did one day, she was just there at the door and stayed with us till she died of old age. She appeared to have been outside a long time she she returned.

Don't give up hope, feral cats are smart, they know how to hunt and where to go to stay warm. It is possible someone let her in, which is probably what has happened. Stay positive, it is spring and even fixed cats have urges.

 

This gives me hope as well Jenn! One of my inside babies got out of the house 6 months ago. We scoured the neighborhood, searched the roadsides, and hung up flyers everywhere! I even ran an ad in the paper with her picture. I also offered a good sized reward, but we've never found her! I really think someone found her, scared and hungry, and took her in. Now I'm thinking it's possible that she may return someday. I sure hope so.

 

I keep telling myself that Pepper is smart. Cat's are very resiliant they know how to survive. So, I like to think that Pepper is out there somewhere safe and sound. But it does get hard to keep telling myself this because today is two weeks since she disappeared. We are still hoping that one day we will go out to the front yard and there will be Pepper waiting for us on the bench like she use to.

 

I hope so Hannah. I swear it's like losing a close friend! When my Hiccup went missing, I walked around in a fog and cried every day for awhile. Part of the pain is not knowing where she is, and if she's ok. I sure hope your Pepper comes home soon.

 

The problems with cats is that they are so independent but in reality they are just small curious kids. I have had some in the past who got the travel bug but they all came home eventually. Most of them were hungry but they did survive on their own. I am sure Pepper will come back to you!

 

If someone has taken Pepper in she is very likely to come home to you the first chance she gets. But then if she is kept in for quite a while she might just decide to keep two homes. I had one cat that... Well, change that. I thought I had this cat but she really had me, my home and two others that I later found out about.

I'm hoping Pepper is ok and quite likely she is. If something bad had happened to her you'd probably know it by now.

 

I can't believe this is happening, now another of my cats is missing. This time its Squiggy, which is odd. Squiggly has been known to roam but she always comes back. I have never known of any situation where Squiggy didn't come bac for a whole day, that is till now. I am starting to get concerned. I thought about the Humane Society but I spoke to a neighbor who told me that the Human Society in our state won't pick up stray cats in neighborhoods unless its an emergency situation. Squiggy is such a loving and trusting cat also quite beautiful to where anyone could of taken her. But if I know Squiggy as I do the minute she has an opportunity to do so she will come running but to us if she is able to.

 

Hi Hannah! One runaway is bad enough but two is very sad. I am wondering if any of your neighbors are having the same problem.
