I have often wondered if God/Creator had a sense of humor. It seems sometimes the way things workout that that he is having a good giggle, or sometimes a belly laugh.

Maybe it is his way of telling us to lighten up and enjoy the world he createated. Or maybe it's a message to not take things so literally.

We are not the only recipients to be gifted with this sense of humor. My pup Izzy laughes at me daily, and he grins as he does it. I've seen squirrels laugh at cats and dogs. Birds will let you know at a drop of a hat that they find you ridiculous.

Since I believe that God/Creator has a purpose for all that he has created in this world, I wonder why he. Creatated humor. If you believe that God/Creator has a sense of humor, why do you think it, and what do you think it provides him or us.

Absolutely. If you want to hear Him laugh, tell Him your upcoming plans!

Noteably, if you look at every emotion that God has, we have that same emotion. In the Bible we read that He can be jealous, happy, sad, hurt, joyful, vengeful, giving, loving and the list goes on. We are, after all, created in His image.

If you want, read the 5th chapter of 1 Samuel. To me, it's hilarious the ways in which He handled the Philistines after they captured the Ark of the Covenant. When He was finished with them they were more than willing to give it back. They were sooooooo willing that they paid the Iraelites to take it.

Oh I do indeed, @Ina I. Wonder . I'm sitting here trying to remember specifics, and it's escaping me, but on more than one occasion I remember laughing and saying "God sure has a sense of humor, doesn't he?" :)

Let me tell you what really bothers me. (Sorry, I know you didn't ask this part, but it's connected!) It has always bothered me that so many people only know a God of punishment and vengeance and gloom & doom. That is *so* not the God I have known my entire life... not in the least. I have seen the love and comfort and patience. Goodness. Forgiveness. I just don't get why that happens. I guess there are certain denominations that focus on the negatives and depend on scare tactics and I'm so glad I didn't grow up in that environment.

It's true that in Genesis 1:27 God said He made man in his own image so we both have a sense of humor but as we all know some people perceive what is funny differently. Much of what the world thinks is funny is not funny but rather is crass and crude and should have no part in a Christian’s life Colossians 3:8. Other humor is expressed at the expense of others (tearing down rather than building up), which is also against what God says Colossians 4:6; Ephesians 4:29. That type of humor would not amuse a holy and perfect God.

I have always thought he must have a sense of humor. I didn't get to go to school as most people did, but at 35 I finally was able to start my education. At first I studied Horticulture for three years, and about the time I thought I had a career in that field, I developed a permanent case sun poisoning. So I shifted to pottery for another three years, and I developed carpel tunnel syndrome., before the microscopic surgery. I studied Honors English for several years, and I ended up an accountant. I taught myself to do portraits, and was making good money doing that, and my eyes have gone bad, so no more of that.

I have gone from one craft to another all my life. I can hunt, slaughter, skin and tan leather. I have farmed, cooked. sewn, embroideried, and help build a couple of houses. So most of my life has been a continual education in how to adapt, Which now as I look back has been a great adventure, but I admit, I did think God/Creator was having a good giggle at me. But I've always loved to learn things, and now I get to be the person all the youngsters ask how to do whatever.

They call that "the school of hard knocks" and believe it or not, when applying for a job, some employers equate that "education" to college or tech school accordingly. It's fair and often times one is more qualified for a job with a resume of hands-on experience over the schooled person with no experience.

But I don't think God finds humor in that as much as a gentle loving smile of being pleased that you have faced your trials and made the best from the hand you were dealt….and you didn't give up….and you are now reaching out to help others.

Yep, yep... I'm agreeing with @Lara Moss on this one... I don't think God laughs "at" us at all... I think he finds delight in us and our accomplishments, especially if we needed to overcome obstacles to reach them.

In fact, that's how I first answered the question... not even a thought of laughing at us or poking fun at us, but in those delightful "God is smiling!" sort of things. Like the person who prays for a baby year after year and finally gets pregnant with triplets. Stuff like that. :)

In Psalm 37 verses 12-13 it says: "The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth. The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming.
God's children are made in His image...so I believe that even all our emotions come from God who has every one of those emotions too.

I'm a person that likes a good laugh. So if God/Creator finds teaching me humous, that's ok with me. I tend to giggle or even laugh at my close loved ones, and they'll look at me and get caught up in what they think I'm seeing in them. It helps them get a grip on reality, and generally they'll see that whatever is happening isn't the end all of their world.

That's why I think he laugh at us. To teach us not to take ourselves too seriously. It's been one of the best lessons I've learned.

I should like to think so, but can't quote any Bible pages to it though. When I look at the antics of a kitten playing on a video with all earnest intent I lol. When I see comedy on television I lol. Doctors say that the best medicine is laughter, thus I believe that God has a sense of humor for when you need humor in life.

Oh yeah, ditto on this, LOL!! God must have a sense of humor, He created us ( I believe that) so if we are made in His image, and we, many anyway, have a sense of humor, the yes! I think it's one of the best things about God;)

Maybe their version of NASA lost their funding due to Congressional cuts?

"Naw, it ain't worth it - she'll do okay down there. Now, about that flight to Pluto ... "

Meanwhile, the duck-billed platypus ("Plattie" to his few surviving friends) waddles slowly and munches on some yummy bugs ...
