Would you vote for a presidential candidate that was a very successful business person who didn't have much or any political experience, other than running a business? Or do you prefer a career politician? I think that a well-rounded, intelligent business person, who runs a large Fortune 500 international company actually has more skills, experience and ability to run the country than a career politician. Sure, the politician knows his way around DC and how to manipulate the system effectively. But someone who is able to run a successful Fortune 500 company has so much more experience dealing with the efficient running of a large "organization", or in this case, the country. They deal with a lot of the same things that a president needs to handle - economy, jobs, unions, international affairs, negotiations, etc. They have to be able to think on their feet, and make decisive decision. Give me a businessman any day of the week!!
I'm with you, Mal....Good Post! Like you, I would vote for a successful businessman, who would be more experienced as you mentioned in the economy, jobs etc. We are hurting for jobs, and in much need of a President to make jobs a very high priority.
That is exactly what motivated me to vote for Mitt Romney. I would have voted for Herman Cain as well. Both men know a lot about business, and how an economy works. Hillary Clinton is not in this category at all, because all the Clintons have done is make themselves rich. They've never created wealth for other people in the free market.

I agree with you. A military leader not only knows about national security, they also know how to delegate so that jobs get done quickly, efficiently and most importantly, correctly. They have a great education in the way of the world. And while they are not technically businessmen, they still deal with budgets and making tough decisions. I was actually excited when Wesley Clark talked about running for president, back in 2004. I probably would have voted for him.
Historically, presidents who were military brass made mediocre to bad presidents, (of course Gen. Washington was an exception). It's logical that the best presidents would be former governors, because a governor has been responsible for running a state. Of course, if the governor did a lousy job, he would probably be lousy as president also.
Professional politicians have ruined this country. There should be term limits at all levels of government. When this country started it was run by people taking time away from their business or profession to help run the government for a term or two. These days our government is run mostly by people whose profession is politics. They don't have a clue as to how to run a business or a country but they know very well how to get votes.
