Okay, I have read through the list of topics three times, and just can't determine where threads about shopping are supposed to go. I finally decided to just put it here, and then see where it gets moved to.

I love shopping on Amazon, and have found that most of the time, I can actually order things from Amazon, and have them delivered right to my front door, and get it as cheap , or cheaper, than going down to the store and buying it. Even when something is the same price at Walmart; I still save money by ordering from Amazon because there is no tax on things I buy there.
Also, Amazon just plain has some awesome sales ! ! We found speakers for Bobby to use with the iPad when he is out in the workshop, and they were around $100 speakers, and on sale for about $15 on Amazon. He also found a pair of bluetooth headphones there that was about the same kind of a discount.
So whenever we need something, before we buy it anywhere; we check out the Amazon website for their prices.
I also look on ebay, and at the store, and then we just go with whichever has the best item for the best price.

I could create one in the "Getting it Done" category, which would also solve the problem of giving me an even number of sub-forums in that section. I am told that I need to go shopping with my wife, as it is,, but I will add that when I return. Remind me if I forget.

I do a large part of my shopping on Amazon.com, and I also earn a nice bit of money from my Amazon.com associate links. Other than a couple of grocery stores, we don't have any places to shop near us, so Amazon.com comes in handy.

Last week, I ordered some cat toys for our youngest cat, Ella. Jokingly, I told her several times, beginning two days before, that she had some new toys coming on Tuesday, that the nice UPS guy was going to bring her some new toys on Tuesday. The funny thing was that when the UPS truck stopped by the house on Tuesday, Ella jumped up in the window to see who it was, then ran down the stairs to the door. It was very much as if she knew to expect gifts from the UPS guy on Tuesday. She doesn't do that every time someone stops in front of the house, although she did go trotting out with the UPS guy once before, like she was going to go home with him.

That is a wonderful story, Ken ! I have read that animals are able to pick up on our visual images; so if you were also mentally "seeing" the UPS truck and her playing with her new toys; she might actually have understood that the toys were going to come that day.
There is a great book called "Talking With Horses", and it was written back in the 1940's by an Englishman who had a stable of horses.
He did experiments with the horses, and his conclusion was that some horses had more than the usual "horse communication" with each other; but not each horse had it with every other horse.
For instance, when he fed Horse A, he would let Horse B know, even though they were not stalled in the same barn. Horse B could talk with horses A&C; so he would tell Horse C that breakfast was coming. If horse B was taken out of the mix, then none of the rest of the horses would know to expect food.
He also tells about the lady that had a little dog and worked at the hospital. She lived with her mother, and noticed that when ever she would get home from work, the mother always had the tea water just at a perfect boil.
Since she worked odd hours, and didn't come home at the same time; she wondered how her mother could know exactly when to start the water for tea.
He mother said that the little dog always knew about 5 minutes ahead of time that she was on her way home, and when the dog jumped up onto the back of the couch to watch for the lady, her mother knew to put the water on to boil.

I have also started to regularly use Amazon's online shopping service. It definitely does give me much more flexibility, and lets me take my time in choose, and paying. I remember one time I bought my wife an antique vase which originally costed over $500 for just under $200. Online shopping does wonders for me, and I don't even have to get off my chair.

My daughter is a big Amazon shopper. She has purchased all sorts of things from Amazon. She was sick for awhile and could not do any shopping, she said she didn't know which was worse being sick or not being able to shop online. Being able to shop online is convenient and something I think we all will be doing more of sooner than we think. I have actually find a few sites I can purchase eye glasses on much cheaper than my local eye doctor, I will save around $400.

She must be a real shoppaholic if she compares being sick to shopping. But yes, buying online can save people a heck ton of money. That's good how you can save that much money on a pair of glasses.

Amazon also has a program called "subscribe and save" which is great for items that you re-use all of the time, such as toilet paper, pet food, and other household items that are replaced regularly. You can decide how often you want the item shipped to you, anywhere from every month, to once every six months. When you use this program, you automatically get a discount every time that you buy the item.
There is also an automotive program (can't think exactly what it is called --Amazon Automotive?), and you put in all of the information about your vehicle(s), and then when you order a part, Amazon already has all of the information, and will let you know which parts will definitely fit your specific vehicle.
Some places also have fresh food delivery, but mostly only in the larger cities at present.
Another feature, which I have read about, but not used much , is the Amazon for Seniors section. I don't think that you get any special discounts for being a senior; but they feature products that are most often used by seniors; so it makes it easier to locate items that you use.

I've been a big Amazon shopper for the past few years... It's just so easy to find pretty much anything you need on there... the other day a part on our Keurig coffee maker broke, and even though I didn't know what it was called, I managed to find it on Amazon. It got delivered the next day through Amazon Prime. (It was a K-Cup holder I found out after some searching on Amazon.) So for $5.49, my Keurig coffee maker is good as new because of Amazon...

I swear there are at least 20 things like that I've ordered in the past year... Between the descriptions and pictures it makes it easier than wandering around Sears or Home Depot trying to figure out where a part is...

I saved a fortune on a pair of glasses online. I wear contacts, and haven't had an up to date pair of glasses in YEARS... For $90 I got a great pair of progressive bifocals with all different kinds of coatings and snap on sunglasses... The "usual places" wanted close to $500 for the same thing.... Ka Ching!!

It almost seems like I'm on the amazon site almost every day! I have a Prime account, which gives me free shipping for most items and I also get free music and free tv and movies on my roku device. Most of the time amazon has the best prices, although not always. I also go there to look at reviews for a particular item even if I don't end up buying it on amazon. Love it, love it, love it!

I have to say I LOVE the Amazon app, even when I'm out shopping somewhere else... Many times I'll be staring at a product on the shelves of Costco or another brick and mortar store, and can't figure out if it's a good quality product worth buying.... So, I get out my phone, scan it with the Amazon app and read the reviews. If it gets good reviews, then I compare the store price with the Amazon price. If it's roughly the same price, I pick it up in the store. If it's a lot cheaper on Amazon, I order it there.

I had an interesting thing happen recently with the listed Seller of a product just bought. I commented on this in the USPS thread, but thought I'd put it in an Amazon thread as well.

I purchased a jar of Diastatic Malt Powder (used in baking), and the thing is lost in transit. As I was cobbling together my enthralling tale to post on the USPS thread yesterday, I noticed that the Seller listed on the product page was BSP_INC. The Seller listed on my order is Sarrii, a new Seller out of Cairo who does not even list the malt powder on his storefront. This morning I look at the product page and the Seller is Orango Goods. This is the same product page that is linked to my order, not different pages for the same item.

I don't understand. This product has the Available From Other Sellers link, and neither BSP nor Sarrii are listed there. I know that Sellers come and Sellers go, but things don't change this rapidly. And I don't know if the Seller listed on the Product Page is always the Seller that our order goes to, making any up front research on the seller we might do valueless. To add to the frustration, I cannot find a way to search for a given Seller. The Web says to use the same search field as you do for products, but that's not finding them. I'm curious as to whether or not BSP_INC is still in business, and if they list the malt powder on their storefront.

We have several orders that have been in transit all week, finally reached Huntsville, and now are saying that they are delayed. I think that what has happened is that it is one of those cases where UPS brings the package and then gives it to the USPS to deliver, and everything is still stuck at the UPS place here because many of or roads have been closed, and no supplies are being delivered this week.
It is supposed to start the warming trend tomorrow, and be in the 40’s by Monday, so deliveries should be starting to go out then, but might still be slow because there is a week’s worth of packages to to to the various post offices here and then be sent out with the mail delivery.
