It wasn't a published book .... just a hundred or so copies were made. I'll get it out later, and find some of the more interesting things that were written.

I don't want to hog Terry's thread, because it is so beautiful. Loving all the pictures here ....

One thing I'll add .. the highlight of their trip was going to the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow(they paid $3.50 for tickets) .. the theater itself was very small, and mainly tourists got in. The poor Russians stood outside trying to buy tickets from tourists. They saw a new ballet 'Anna Karenina'.
At intermission, they went to the buffet for brown bread and sausage. .. a common meal.
Fast food Russian style was bread w/ham & cheese and coffee. ... tons of bread, but never butter.

Much was written about the people they encountered along the way, both other tourists and Russians.
They visited the Hermitage, palace of Catherine the Great ... the 'guard' in each room was a little fat old babushka granny sitting in a corner.

OK .. this was back in the 70's ..... Back to Terry .....

Don't worry about hogging my thread Bonnie, it's interesting to hear other's experiences, especially from the past.

Lisa was recently given two tickets as a gift from a post graduate student, to the ballet "Swan Lake" at the Mariinsky theatre here, they are the best seats at over a $120 each but we found out as a foreigner, I have to pay an extra $30 to go, which is OK as it's still a wonderful opportunity to see my favourite ballet.
A lot of theatres and museums here have a two tier system of charging extra for foreigners.

Not sure what I will wear at such a grand affair apart from my plaid shirt

Lisa and I pent the evening yesterday at a lovely old mansion called The "House of Composers" where local musical composers met in the 1800s. I
t was a Cello and Piano concert, the place was full and the music sublime, I came home blissed out. I realised how much I missed all this culture when back in Worcester, which is pretty devoid of any.

There are classical concerts, ballet, opera, jazz and rock here every day of the week, I am making the most of it while I am here this time.
A few pics of the interior of the mansion and the players.

Lol yes she did crop up in a few pics, pure coincide of course
The woman in the centre of the musicians we both find very appealing in the way she plays, and gives these flirtatious smiles at the other players. We have been to several previous concerts where she has played.

Wow, that actually looks like the back of my head! That is how I wear my hair.

I could post that pic on Facebook and say it's me and I would be believed. I'd have to say from a few years ago because now my hair is a lighter blonde.

    A Night At The Ballet

We both enjoyed the ballet very much, Sylvis ia ballet I am not familiar with though I know some of the music.
It was a French production and the costumes and dancing were superb.
It was my first visit to the Mariinsky Theatre, though Lisa has been many times since her youth. It's a lovely old building which opened in 1860 and has always been well attended for it's top class productions of plays, ballet and opera.
A new Mariinsky Theatre building was completed recently adjacent to the old one, which we are going to on Sunday for the Tchaikovsky ballet "Sleeping Beauty" my favourite one.

A few pics I took despite all photography being banned ;)
