It's a tram not a bus Ruby, there are three routes on Lisa's road so it's easy to catch one passing by.
There are often tram jams when one breaks down, Interestingly there are no bus routes on this road at all.

Everytime I see these pictures Terry, it reminds me a lot of Edinburgh!! Particularly with the tenements..

Yes @Holly Saunders I guess as "Peter the Great" modelled St.Petersburg on European cities he visited it would have elements of some of our UK architecture. It's built on 42 islands with 342 bridges so it gives the illusion of being one area of land, it was a dream of Peter for it to be a Venice of the north I understand, and many canals were dug but his dream was never realised.
I do love Edinburgh and have been there many times, but have never thought of the similarity of the tenements there, though they are not very grand are they?

I've never quite envisaged Gorgie Road or Leith Walk as having the grandeur of St Peterburg, I must admit. As for Peter the Great, I always wondered if the "Great" bit referred to the sheer size of the man as well as his achievements. I remember seeing a pair of his boots in a museum. They must have been at least size fifteen. He was a tall fellow...two-metre Peter, you might say.

Sorry Terry, I hope I didn't offend ...No the Tenements in Edinburgh are not very grand at all. as you say .LOL...but the street view from your window aspect is very similar.....some of Edinburgh is pretty and Quaint in paces but I don't think anyone could call it an attractive place for the most part.., unlike you...and speaking as a Scot..I'm not a fan of Edinburgh at all, ..I always find it from a Scots aspect a bit dour.

I had no idea St Petersburg on 42 islands...another thing I've learned today.. :D..and from other photos you've shown I can see it's a beautiful city...

Just so others can see where I get the similarity idea from your street view ..here's a few pictures of Edinburgh...

Of course, Edinburgh does have some rather more stylish Georgian terraces.

No offence @Holly Saunders I am not a defender of St.Peter at all, there are similar buildings here to the pics you posted, as I say he basically toured Europe having some pretty wild parties evidently, and copied European ideas and architecture.
I have a fondness for Edinburgh because I lived there for a while during one of my romantic mid-life crises
I have heard that some Scots find it dour :(

Did any of you see the movie Frida about the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo? I liked the movie and by coincidence there is an exhibition of her art in a palace just down the road from Lisa's apartment. It's the first exhibition of her works and is in the Faberge Museum in the Shuvalov Palace which haven't been to yet, so we can go to both at once.
I like some of her art but a lot of it I don't connect with, but she was a very interesting person.

    A 3D tour of the palace/museum here

Enjoyed your pictures Terry... very nice. :)
I was raised in the Greek Orthodox faith by my Russian family in Ohio.
Your cathedral pictures remind me of the Russian Church in Cleveland, and the long masses ..(2 hours)

I guess I mentioned before, elsewhere, about my traveling aunt and a book she put together of Red Square and her travels to Moscow and the countryside.
Like you, all very detailed and so interesting.

They say it comes back Bonnie if you need it and are amongst people speaking it, I find it an impossible language to learn apart from a few words, but I am hopeless at languages anyway

I haven't forgotten Hungarian, Bonnie, not basic conversation anyway. I haven't spoken it now since I left Hungary in 2003, so maybe I'm a little rusty. When talking with my mom I will mix English and Hungarian sometimes but not often.

I did find though that when we did live in Hungary those 6 yrs, I had trouble understanding the TV programs or any intellectual or technical conversation. My knowledge was basic everyday talk that happens in a family environment.
