Plain water for me, please. You can put a slice of lemon in it to make it fancier. Even when I did drink wine I never liked red, always white for me.
This reminds me of the bottles of wine we received last Christmas season. On Christmas eve, we cooled 2 bottles in the fridge, 1 red wine and a sparkling grape juice. Well, the grape juice was consumed and the wine was not opened. On New Year's eve, the same scenario happened, the bottle of red wine remained capped. My husband said that he couldn't open the wine bottle because it seems that he is the only one who would drink. And that wine cannot remain for long, it should be consumed when opened. So it seems that we need some house guests for that wine to be opened.
My default position is cask-conditioned ale, but a glass or twelve of good wine never goes amiss. As long as it's not sweet or fizzy, I am usually content. As somebody once said, champagne is for those with lots of money but no taste.
I'm not a wine drinker just a sparkling apple cider drinker, but hey why not celebrate wine day anyway! Toast!!! image from http://thebudgetsavvybride.com/a-sparkling-cider-toast/.
