Some of my dreams get pretty strange at times, and since there seem to be no rules that my dreams have to follow, things can come in unusual colors, people can be just about any age, and it does not matter whether they are living (now) or not, they sometimes wander around in my dreams.
So, the other night, I was dreaming about something that had horses in it. One of the horses was a regular reddish-brown horse color; but the other horse was a pale lime green.
You know the color of that mint ice cream with the chocolate chips in it that is usually popular around the holidays ?
Well, that was the color of the green horse in my dreams that night.
Naturally, my dream mind was perfectly fine with the idea of a lime green horse, and it was not until I woke up the next morning that the idea seemed out of place.
When I was telling Bobby about the horse, we started discussing whether all dreams were in color, and he said that some of his were in color, and some not so much.
I remember reading that people dream either way, although I think that I always dream in color. Then, we discussed what a person might dream if they had been blind from birth, and never actually seen any thing, or any kind of color.
Since dreams are all in our minds, and just about anything goes, it would be interesting to find out what blind people dream.
And animals are also said to dream in black and white, although I have no idea how they might be able to determine something like that .........any ideas ?

I remember our teacher in psychology class saying that our dreams are usually in black and white. But sometimes we dream in color. And in those times, that means our creative juices are overflowing. Our teacher added that artists dream often in colored because they have the creative inclinations. And if we happen to dream in color, we were advised to write something when we wake up and surely that write up would be good because we are at the peak of our creativity.

My most spectacular dreams - which undoubtedly came in glorious technicolour - came about under the influence of drugs. Perfectly legal drugs, I might add, as it was when I lived in East Africa and had to take anti-malarial pills every day. One of the side effects of these drugs was to provide me with a range of surreal and vivid dreams. There were less pleasing side effects, such as giving my liver something of a hard time after I had stopped taking the drugs, but the dreams were worth the admission fee.

@Corie Henson. This is good to know because all of the dreams that I can recall were in color. So that makes me a very creative person? I always thought of myself as being creative and been told so.

@Yvonne Smith. I sat by one of my dogs once and noticed him twitching and making dog sounds. I figured he was dreaming. Sometimes one of his legs would move like he was scratching. I miss my Little L.

@Von Jones, I believe that you are a creative person to be always dreaming in color. I rarely experience dreaming in color maybe because I am always tired at the end of the day, hahahaaah. But seriously, that colored dream is a sure indication of your creative juices so if I were you, I would exploit my talent like if you have a passion for visual arts or writing stories. I have a niece who is very creative like you and she said that she often dream in color.

I tend to dream in color. Just two nights ago I dreamed about an old Dodge Dart I once owned. It was brown.

I see color also in my dreams. I have read that one either can only dream 2 colors or just cannot recall any more than 2 colors.

I never remember more than 2 colors, myself.

I wonder if that applies to each 'frame' in dream, you know, like how movies are made? I'll have to pay close attention to the next dream that I recall. My husband hears all of my dreams. I'm very dramatic especially when it's a good dream. Anyway I am very colorful when I get into the details of them. It's almost like I am re-dreaming a dream.

I always dream in colour, and can't recall a black and white one ever, I don't regard myself as being creative though, apart from my ability to create instant chaos wherever I go
The side effect of the sleeping pills I take are hallucinogenic dreams, which I used to love, but they faded with time. The most vivid lucid dream/visions I had were with magic mushrooms, with an amazing afterglow, but a couple of bad trips cured me of that period of my life.

I had a series of symbolic raging fire dreams during one of my many mid life crises, and water dreams during emotional periods in my life. At times my dreamworld became more interesting than real life ;)

My dreams are always in color, never had a black and white dream that would be very odd to me.

I dream a lot about water, almost every dream has water in it. Most of the time it's just on the verge of flooding or over taking something but never does. I always live in different cool places but then when I look out I always see the water and think its neat but then it always looks like it's going to flood. Have different scenarios with water but this is one I remember and is the most common one.

Water symbolises emotions so it would seem that your inner world/psyche is fearing being overwhelmed by them?

Maybe, my life is simple so I shouldn't be overwhelmed by emotions but maybe deep down I am. Guess I got used to my happy face and actually believe it.

Most of us have buried emotions Chrissy it's often a balancing act trying to function in life and be emotionally open, our mind will suppress them at times in order for us to survive the situation we are in.

Guess I'll just continue my water dreams, they're not bad. I've had so many that I think I realize in my dream that nothing bad will happen with the water. I don't feel fear. Anxious sometimes but not
    fearful.

They have a pattern. First I'm happy about the water, then something is wrong about it, either dirty or overflowing or something negative, then I wake up. Always the same.
