I've never had the desire to visit anyplace in the World except the Grand Canyon!

    That ditch says it all!

HEY HAL, No reflection on your Broad Travel Interests. I fullfilled a dream in 1962 and relieved myself over the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and avoided updrafts.

A few of our dreams have came true: a cruise to the Bahamas, trip to Yellowstone National Park (Upper/Lower areas) (when we lived in Colorado before), trip to Key West, Florida (when we lived in Florida).

But, our other travel dreams most likely will never happen (finances): Niagara Falls, Washington D.C. (White House/Lincoln Memorial), London, Paris and Venice, Italy.

Done some island visits when I was in the Navy. Not my thing now.

I would love to be able to travel like you have done, @Lon Tanner ! I look at the pictures that you have posted over the last few years, and some of those islands especially are simply breathtakingly beautiful !
Except for the trips that my daughter Robin has taken me along with her (when she traveled for work), I have really never just traveled to go some place and visit.
We went to Hawaii a year ago, and that was probably the experience of my life, and she practically had to drag me back onto the plane to come home again.
Now that all travel will be requiring face masks, I am not likely to be going on any trips anywhere, even out to Idaho to see my kids, ever again.

When we were celebrating our 20th anniversary, I told each of our 5 that if they saved $100 each per year when our 25th arrived they could send us to Hawaii. Well that never happened. Because I had joined the Shrine and we went to Hawaii in 1978. We were due to go to national convention but since Detroit was on it's way to murder capital of the US at the time our leadership decided to go to a regional in Honolulu. We contracted 2 747s to fly us to hawaii. We had 10 days inHonolulu plus side trips to Kuaii and the big island for $900. Of course I had to buy lunch and dinner each day but breakfast was included.

I've not traveled a whole lot except through work. I did vacation in Martinique, and took a trip through a rain forest there. When I was very little and we lived in Indiana, we went to Niagara Falls. I still have weird dreams of my father sitting me up on the rail and my teddy bear with the music box in it falling into space with a final *SPLASH* I've often wondered if the old man thought he had too many mouths to feed.

I lived just outside of DC from the early 60s to 2010 and took advantage of most things that were there. I was a member of the Smithsonian Associates program, and went fossil hunting with them (nothing major, stuff from the modern era off the Maryland seashore.) There was a period where I would drive downtown on a warm summer evening and walk around the monuments you mentioned. They take on a different tone at night. The only thing I never did was the 4th of July events downtown. I detest crowds.

Maybe I need to take a road trip out west while I'm still able.
