Here are photos I have taken in the last couple of days of Adelaide the Capitol city of South Australia. I don't live in Adelaide,I live approx 200 km from there in a small country town ,but I do most of my food and most other needs shopping in Adelaide, quite often staying down in the city for a night or two especially if we have any medical appointments. First photo is South parklands in the city , with the Adelaide hills in background , City skyline as you can see we don't have much in the way of skyscraper buildings think without looking it up the highest building would be about 20 stories The last is the one I posted in the winter thread the intersection of South Tce ,Goodwood Road ,Anzac Highway. We drive right hand drive cars in Australia ,we drive in the left hand lane Adelaide city is a square mile ,bounded by ,South, West,East and North Tce
Here is photos of our Australia Day parade 26 th Jan. People from many countries who have made Australia home take part in the parade . I believe there were 6000 people who took part in the parade .I will post more latter The parade is held in the Main Street of Adelaide ( City) called King William Street
Australia is one country I like to visit if I will be given the opportunity while I am still capable to travel. Nice pictures and thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing those photos. My son and his wife just came back from a tour in Australia for Christmas and New Year's. They loved it!
Here's a photo taken from my front doorstep ,looking down the street towards the beach, it's a 3 minute walk to get down the beach
I saw on the news some terrific lightening strikes there in Australia! http://abcnews.go.com/International...lightning-strike-australian/story?id=36643559
Only last week a man as killed by lightening in Adelaide, he was setting up tents for a Christian youth camp when struck and killed, the lightening has started many bush fires as well
Those pictures seemed to ignite my desire to go to Australia. It's been a long time since I had started that dream but in spite of our yearly travels, we are just in Asia. Maybe it is the budget that dictates since a Hongkong trip is cheap and very affordable. Lately we have increased our trip budget and Singapore is always in the menu. With Australia, it seems exorbitant and our other concern is the accommodation not to mention the difficulty of understanding Australian English (no offense but they have a different accent).
I have no desire to travel abroad but I do enjoy friends and family who share their travels to other countries. My husband was in the Navy and stationed in Italy and said that I would enjoy it. Maybe but as @Corie Henson has stated it's all about finances. My youngest son takes advantage of the perks at his job coupled with his knack for finding excellent overseas tours using his frequent flyer miles. He and his wife first started touring in the U.S. then abroad.
