Where I live in Massey, there are NO cases of the virus at all...…………………………….. yet ….
A small village of under 1000 people that are super cautious by closing almost everything essentially.....
We don't go out of the house in good times, so why go out now...

Not sure, maybe my imagination is working overtime.....sitting outside, getting fresh air and the sun's rays.....it is soooooooo quiet, none of the usual kids outside playing, no big kids looking to get into trouble, not as many walkers, road traffic is less....not sure if i like this kind of quiet, but i think it shows that people are reacting with responsibility.

As the topic digressed to a discussion of Massey, Ontario, I broke those posts off to form a separate thread in the Places I Have Lived section.

Did my trip to the grocery this morning. Noticed there were items that were limited, so many per person, totally understandable. Staff were wearing sterile gloves. At the checkouts, 10 foot space was taped on the floor, to allow a buffer space between you and the customer in front of you, when they leave the checkout, you're allowed to go forward, clerks are not allowed to pack your own bags, you either do it yourself or buy plastic bags. A very definite effort to keep our health and theirs as safe as possible.

I don't agree with all of it, but I do agree with most of it. This is long but it makes a lot of good points. -- Medium.com

Today, online, I read a story about two homeowner in New Jersey that got arrested for having a wedding at their homes. The house development there homes are in has a very high population of Orthodox Jews and they were that. They stated that they refused to do the orders of the New Jersey Governor. He stated "you will cooperate with the order now". He has given law enforcement the order to arrest those that are responsible for putting the wedding on.

    Thoughts????

Got a IM from wife's sister this AM on iPhone stating: "the wedding is off, the trip is off, no vacations and I have to stay home for 3 weeks". She doesn't like this one bit! She definitely isn't a "stay at home Senior" and loves to go and see both of her daughter and grandkids. Her one daughter had a 50th birthday last week and told everyone that she knew was coming "please don't com". "Will have a nice party later."

It might be interesting to watch the world map of cases as time passes. The Southern hemisphere is just entering the cold weather season, and around the equator the temperatures are moderate all year 'round.

It might give us an idea of how this virus responds to cold weather. IOW, does it die out like the flu here in the US, when warm weather comes? Does it persist in tropical temps? Will it come back in the fall here?

Here is the latest from across the Americas:

Colombia: A deadly riot broke out in a prison in Bogota, leaving 23 inmates dead, as tensions rise over the spread of the coronavirus in one of the most vulnerable locations: overcrowded and often violent penitentiaries. Latest figures: 231 infected, 2 deaths.

Venezuela: Family members of jailed opposition activists say they fear for their loved ones amid unconfirmed reports that four police officers at the country's most notorious jail for political prisoners have come down sick with the virus. Latest figures: 70 infected, no reported deaths

Brazil: President Jair Bolsonaro has denied the country's healthcare system will collapse next month, contradicting his own health minister. A statewide quarantine order will come into effect on Tuesday in Sao Paulo state, shutting down all but non-essential businesses and services. Latest figures: 1,209 infected, 18 deaths.

United States: President Donald Trump is lashing out at governors and other lawmakers who have been critical about the federal response to the pandemic.Trump has tweeted that they should not be "blaming the federal government for their own shortcomings.'' Latest figures: 26,747 infected, 400 deaths.

New York: The Big Apple is days away from running out of essential equipment needed to keep hospitals running, its mayor, Bill de Blasio, has warned, likening the coronavirus pandemic to the Great Depression.

Canada: The death toll has jumped almost 50% in less than a day. The country has already closed its borders to all but essential travel and announced a C$27 billion ($19 billion, €17.75 billion) aid package for people and businesses most affected. The House of Commons will return on Tuesday to approve further measures to deal with the crisis. Latest figures: 1,378 infected, 19 deaths.

Mexico: President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he believes the central bank should be careful with the country's international reserves, which in his view should not be used to fight the depreciation of the peso currency. Latest figures: 251 infected, 2 deaths.

Argentina: Authorities have temporarily detained more than 3,200 people since the start of a curfew to combat the pandemic. Among them were 44 teenagers who had gathered for a picnic and many motorists for traffic violations. Latest figures: 225 infected, 4 deaths.
