We got 26 inches of snow from the blizzard. It will take at least two days to dig out. The side streets may not get plowed until Tuesday.

I am grateful the power in my neighborhood did not go out during all of this.

I hope everyone else in the path of the storm is safe and as happy as I am that it has passed.

What winter storm? Here in central Maine, it hasn't snowed in a few days, the roads are clear, and temperatures aren't even bad for the middle of January.

My husband and I are on a vacation right now that is why we are not able to see how the snowing takes place this winter. But my friend who is my neighbour had told me last night through skype that the snow is many this year 2016 compared to last year. This is also the reason why we are always on a vacation during the winter because my husband is not feeling good and comfortable already when the winter season is coming.

Welcome to the new era of unpredictable weather. Indeed this extreme winter conditions that the US and other northern countries are experiencing is due to the climate change or global warming. It is man's folly to neglect the environment and now nature is taking its revenge on us. It is only 2016 and when 2020 comes, what could happen if the extreme weather conditions would continue? It's scary to think of excessive floodings and extreme drought in this part of the world.

Climate change is not anything new, and the weather has been changing for thousands of years. while it is important for people not to do the things that pollute the earth, we actually make very little difference in what the weather pattern is.
Long before people had anything mechanical, or factories, we had cold periods like the mini ice-age that happened around the Medieval time period, and lasted up until sometime in the 1800's. Certainly, humans had nothing to do with the changing weather patterns back then, and we really do not have much more effect on the weather right now.
The volcanic activity is increasing, possibly due to the center of the earth heating up for some reason, but when the volcanoes erupt, they put ash into the air that drifts for a long time, blocking out warmth from the sun, and if the caldera at Yellowstone were to erupt, the ash from that could put us into a small ice age, just from that.
