I had my vehilce for six years now and only remember changing the wiper two times. Last year I bought new ones only because I have never done it before. Johnny has always taken care of it. When I went to Autozone and watched how it was done knowing that I would or could do it myself.

I was speaking to my son about it and he recommended a brand name Rain-X so I checked them out and they will remain where they are at $40.00 a piece.

Von, could this be a case of getting what you pay for? If you pay a lot for them but they last a lot longer, it would be a fair deal. Your son probably thinks that they are worth it.

I'm sure that is the case since he has to drive much more than me.

Rain_X used to sell,(be) a coating you polished into your windshield. Rain would just sheet off,and at speed wipers wouldn't be needed., They then came out with wipers that were impregnated with this stuff with which to maintain your treatment. I don't know if the coating is still sold or not but their wipers are heavily marketed. Can't say a thing for or against, but it seems if there was some big wiper breakthrough we would have heard about it.
$40.00 is not that far out of line for a decent set of wipers. One of the autoparts chains will install wipers and batteries free.

California Vehicle Law states that when your Wipers are oscillating, your Headlights should also be on!

This is true, Shirley. Some of the cheaper wipers will skip and squeal across the glass. Good ones are like buttah. :D

Well, before I left Autozone I stood there at the windshield wiper section trying to decide which ones to get. After about 10 minutes I decided on the Bosch Micro Edge wipers. Not as expensive as the Rain-X but a better brand than I purchased last year.

Over the years the thing I’ve had the most problem with are wipers. Hope you’ve solved
    your problem for a while.

@Bill Boggs. I did read somewhere that wipers usually wear out after a year. Of course you need to take into consideration of the overall climate and weather conditions in your area, driving habits and the care of windshield wipers.

Maybe I should say handle instead of care.

Example: My recent wipers ripped because I didn't let my windshield defrost long enough to before turnig them on or I could have cleared the windshield first.
