I love to decorate with treasures I've found. I used to decorate focusing on the upcoming holidays but after awhile I changed to focus on what season it is. So much more creative flow for me as well as being able to utilize items in my craft room. Most of my treasures were found at thrift stores, estates sales and of course my favorite flea market.

I always watched my mother as she was creating things for herself or as gifts. I was never good at drawing as my sisters were but give me anything and my imagination would take off with ideas to create something out of it.

As I was going through some photos I came across several pics of projects and I thought I would share them and their story.

I have done this in previous years but never took a picture. It's always different from the previous year. It's a way of remembering what I've done.

Here are a few of this harvest season decorations for 2019.

In these pics I want to highlight a few items. The pumpkin patch hangings I purchased from the hospital gift shop where I worked. All on sale 75% off in other words pennies for me with my employee discount. The very large grapevine wreath was acquired at a craft warehouse that was closing. I was in heaven and blown away by the prices. I came home with a motherload of craft items.

I had been wanting to fill the area beneath the window and I found at a thrift store for a couple bucks and some change each two wire flower trays . These were perfect. They were olive green and I sprayed painted them white to go with the white trim.

I was going to add more then we had our first snow on Veteran's Day and it was cold and very windy. When it clears up I may continue but for now I'm satisfied with the outcome.

If you can bend them then you are able to form a wreath. Depending on the size you want and how long the branches are you can attach them together with floral wire. Form a circle by bending into shape.

Making this wreath now will probably get you into the holiday spirit. Put on your favorite holiday sounds and sing along.;)

Floral wire. Didn't know it existed so I looked it up. I have tons of fine wire from a kitchen ceiling project. That might work. Thanks, Von.

ps. I deleted that because the thread is about your project, not mine, but you were too fast. ;)

Yes, any type of wire can work as long as it does the job.

How thoughtful of you to do that. I welcome questions and if I can give a helpful tip on how I did something or how to do something, it's all good.

It is only a dollar at WalMart. I use floral wire to shape plants, hang pictures, get the right poof or drape to a curtain, etc.....it's great stuff!!
(Earlier this year I even used it to wire back on my coffee carafe handle.)

@Von Jones Your home looks very welcoming and festive!!

Back at it again. Just a few days before Christmas and I have only begun to decorate. I've had to think awhile before I started due to my terrible-two 1 year old granddaughter has been a handful with just staying away from the tree. With that said I haven't begun inside yet. I usually have stockings hanging from the mantle, not now; a garland on the handrail, not now; lots of whimsical knick knacks, not now. So I decided to concentrate outside.

I'm not finished yet but here are a few photos and their stories.

I found the wooden sled for a few dollars at the Corner Cupboard thrift store years ago. It's decorated with snowflakes that I picked up while thrifting. The ornament was part of a Secret Santa gift. This is hanging from our mailbox. Winter decorations 2019 006.jpg

I had the most frustrating time trying to find these grapevine wreaths. When I did find them they weren't in my craft room but under a lamp shade in the cold storage room. These wire baskets are filled with pine cones and artificial greenery. The two pine cones in the center of the wreaths were given to me by my now 13 year old grandson a few years back. An art project in school.

When I stepped outside to check how these looked I knew I needed something to pull the two baskets together. I'll be working on that.

And lastly, the ole Christmas tree. This idea came to me in my sleep. I had taken apart a string of icicle lights which I didn't like after I hung them up a couple of years ago. So I remove the tabs that helped give the icicle affect and ended up with two long strands of lights and they still worked! Hung the Dollar Tree star light first; then laid out the tree form and my grandson wired on the ornaments.

We can see the tree through the living room window. I'm so tickled about that.

@Von Jones So awesome! You give me such cheer with your creations.I gave up all that many years ago but still help friends that like to decorate. I love that sled on the mailbox. I couldn't do that around here, because of all the young haters that go around tearing down anything Christmas or patriotic. They deem it fascist. Love your work!

Thank you Patsy. I guess 'chilled out' is a good way to put it. :) I really am in a zone when I'm creating things. It's fun, relaxing and I really surprise myself too.
