The church world is much like the military, medical profession, law enforcement, lawyers, teachers, etc. Within the totally good and dedicated majority, are the small percentage of bad ones who end up in the news and serve as a total embarrassment to their profession. This is one story which serves to prove that fact.

Oh yeah and all the bible thumpers and who live their lives by the bible. I've never read one nor have plans to. I don't have to read bibles to treat people with acceptance and respect.

And there is so many bible verses that specifically belittle and demean women. Unbelievable and that's where it all came from to harm women, the bibles.

Would it be to much to ask for you to stop insulting people with that "Bible thumpers" crap? You actually believe that is "treating people with acceptance and respect???" (Oh, the irony.)

I suppose it's OK to insult Christians today but don't hurt a transexual's feelings.

Noted, but that's how I see the bible readers...many hypocrites. I can ignore what I don't like, guess many cannot.

This thread that you started is about a book review, not your opinion of Christians. I have reported your posts for admin review. Please direct your further posts to what you liked or didn’t like when you read this book.
Since you started a thread about the book, you must have read it, and have some on-topic comments about why you liked it or didn’t like it.
Any further posts that are simply attacking people who are Christians will be reported and/or deleted if they are off-topic.

I don't think very many Christians consider the Westboro Baptist Church to be Christian, and I think that is borne out in the book. I haven't read the book but I have seen a few interviews that the author made.

Obviously you didn't read my original post. I said I heard an interview from the author of the book. And yes I have a lot of issue with the bible and so much negatives in all these books. I have been considered a christian all my life and finally just like to be considered a human being.

Give me the good ole 10 commandments which I was raised with from day I could talk.

I haven't heard much about the Westboro Baptist lately, but back around 2008-2010 they were on the news regularly. Mostly with those disgusting protests and ugly signs at fallen soldier's funerals. I have a friend who is a Patriot Guard Rider in Dallas; he participated in a couple of funerals, blocking the WB protestors from the soldier's family.

I haven't read the book but, having seen the author interviewed, I don't believe that her message was one of hatred toward Christians. Given that the book, in all probability, covers a number of issues related to the way in which members of the Westboro Baptist Church have behaved, certainly, these issues may be mentioned, but only in the sense that they are part of the subjects covered by the book or the (linked) blog article that discusses the book. The Westboro Baptist Church has been pretty much out of the news since the "pastor" died. I don't know that the remainders have the stamina, or whatever it takes, to keep up the same level of craziness.

Where do you find Bible verses that belittle and demean women? You've said you haven't read the Bible so where do you get your info?

The only thing she might be referring to is 1 Cor. 11:3 whereas women and men alike have misunderstood the verse for a few centuries.

But, back to the OP. Nope, I never read the book nor do I plan to. In my estimation, the Westboro Baptist Church is an extremely poor representation of Christianity in general.

Agree about WBC....1 For reference is used by anti-Christians as a club always but always with no context. I just want her to share where her info comes from if, as she said, she's not read the Bible.

The WBC believed it was all right to hate as long as it was "righteous" hate. Many religions believe this and that is why war exist. I haven't and won't bother to read the book, I did read the review and from what I have seen in the past from these "righteous" hate filled people, nothing of value to be learned from reading such a book. The first question I asked anyone preaching to me is, "Do you love yourself." Christ and others have long taught the universal truth of until one learns to love their self, then there is no way they can love others. WBC, as are some other so called churches, just cults building wealth and power, tax free. Since the WBC is of no significance anymore, I won't waste time reading the book.

And real Baptists don't consider them Baptists, either.

On a side note, re: the topic, I haven't read that book but one that is interesting is "Banished" by Lauren Drain. The way that girl was treated by her so-called family was downright heartbreaking.
