Hey guys...how often do you take your Lady Fair to a Dance?

My wife and I go dancing once a month at our Senior Citizens Club, where Western bands are rotated weekly, with a different one playing on alternate Saturday nights.

Before moving up to Cowboy Country, we would dance to sophisticated bands that played Tango, Samba, Cha-Cha, and other steps we learned at dance classes, but the Western bands don't know these rhythms, so we're happily contented with FoxTrot, Waltz, and Swing.

I spent a number of years Square Dancing with a couple of different clubs. One singles club I was in, was filmed in a high school gym and that film shown on the tv show Solid Gold. Wife graduated from a square dance class just before I met her. We done a little of that dancing together and went to two Conventions, one of them being here in Colorado, when we lived here before. At the square dances, I'd be wearing the same kind of clothes that I wore in the rodeo arena......Resistol felt or straw hat, Ariat boots and Wrangler jeans. Sometimes she'd wear her black felt cowboy hat. We both looked good, but were the only ones wearing cowboy hats.

Both of us had been country-western dancing for a number of years before we met and after we met. She loved line-dancing, but that definitely wasn't the kind of dancing I liked. We'd go to a rodeo dance after a rodeo.

Unfortunately, after my hip replacement in 2005 and both of my rotator cuff surgeries (2007/2015) we no longer dance. We still will go to a nightclub, like we did last Friday night, to sit and listen to a good band, but those dancing days are over. However, she might get up and do a line dance. Again, we're both in Wrangler jeans, hats, etc.

Funny, but I told the lead singer of the band we listened to last Friday night, that I had spent numerous years in professional rodeo as a roper, and he said "so, you're a real cowboy type." I said, "Well, I use to be. Still wear the clothes, but those days of swinging a rope are gone."

@Hal Pollner I no longer have anyone around to take me dancing. I do miss that from time to time.

We used to go "boot scootin'" fairly often a few years ago, but somehow it doesn't appeal to us anymore.

I don't own a car, so I think I would be perceived as desperate just hanging around eating a sandwich, watching men change oil. :p

Ah but Midas not only does muffler and changes oil but also does transmission work too! Ya gotta love those guys at Midas! :)

She can hang out in the lobby and drink free coffee and flirt with the guys who roll in and out of there.

You would look great and be safe to boot! No one at a seniors dance will request you do the moonwalk, so no slip is ideal. Most guys just want to slow dance anyway, so not much sole slip required. :):)
