Heading up to Vegas today from Goodyear, AZ to take part in some event, they flew low over Laughlin today, the image captured by a "Buzz" member. The sky here has always amazed us.

I could possibly be in error as to the image Frank tried to paste but when I lived in Indian Springs, Nevada, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds often practiced right above us. Noisy but beautiful.

    Right or wrong Frank?

I'm surprised you missed the clue, though the image showed up on my OP; today it does not. What else could be housed in Goodyear?

Glad you let me know, Von! My wife sent it to me via email, and it copied and pasted yesterday, showed up in my OP, today, gone. Anyhow, here it is, via my photo guy:

@Frank Sanoica I'm confused. I don't know what Goodyear would have to do with the Thunderbirds.

You posted picture at same time! Thanks. I feel better. Wonderful pic!

@Bobby Cole might have been referencing a place immediately adjacent to Goodyear, Avondale, both very near Luke AFB, where numerous fighter jets call home.

Living near the beaches and home of the Jaguars Football team, I have seen the blimp a number of times. It's a beautiful thing!

When I was a kid, occasionally they flew over our house headed towards Chicago, likely to hover over some outdoors event. I learned they make a unique droning sound, unlike a propeller driven airplane, quieter, more constant, and subdued. After the first time, I could recognize that one was approaching before seeing it!

@Frank Sanoica: .Can't remember if I posted this here before, or not. Apologize, if so. :(

The house I grew up in was 1.5 miles, as the crow flies, from the Goodyear Airdock where they made the early airships. They used to take off from there and were very close to the ground as they sometimes passed right over our house. As kids, it was exciting when they did. Surprising how noisy the airships were back then, when they are that close above you.

Nice! Would that have been in or near Akron? I believe several of the tire makers originated there.

Yes. . Most of my relatives who lived there, and at least one parent of almost every kid I knew, worked at one of the tire factories. Every family was associated with a "shift." . Ours was "6 to midnight." ;)

Back in the early 1970's, I got the chance to ride in one of the Goodyear blimps. I couldn't get over how quiet it was.

The captain told us a funny story about a guy who tried to hijack a blimp for a ride to a music festival. When they told him they couldn't get over the Rockies, he gave up.
