When Graham Norton has the Scottish actors on the show together, and they start talking to each other, I cannot understand a word they say. To me, that would make a perfect relationship because if I cannot understand what is said to me, I cannot exactly argue with that person. If I wanted to mess with the person, I would start doing fake sign language to level the battleground. :)

I used to have the ability to pick up dialects quickly, and my wife was always confused when I would switch from what I usually speak to south Georgia "southern", North Carolina "mountain", etc. when speaking to people from there. It even happened on the telephone. It was natural and I didn't even realize I was doing it. Early in our marriage, I called made a call to Japan and switched to Japanese when the phone was answered. Up to that time she hadn't seen that. She is midwestern U.S. and hadn't met people from other nations before. I have lost most of that ability now as I have aged and lost much of my hearing. I no longer pick up the inflections and such that were once a second nature for me.
