If family, money, health, etc......weren't the issue, where would you want to spend the rest of your retirement years?

Mine used to be Israel, but now I fear the location could bring about a faster death than my allotted years.

I think I would, and probably will, choose Daytona Beach, FL. You can actually purchase a condo with a beach view for a very reasonable amount of money. The economy is good, the beaches are nice and the town has a nice vibe. Everything is beautiful until the hurricane comes, but it doesn't happen too often.

I already spent 25 of my retirement years in New Zealand and it was fantastic.

Like Patsy, I am stuck where I am; but if I could live anywhere, I would also want to live close to the ocean, like you want to do , @Bess Barber .
When Robin and I took the trip to Orlando and drove back home along the western coast of Florida, we saw some beautiful and peaceful little towns and villages long the bottom of the Florida panhandle.
We were both talking about how nice it would be to live down there, and then that hurricane came along and just devastated that whole area around Panama City.
I think that I would move somewhere along the Pacific coast, in Washington or Oregon. It is not as warm as the Atlantic or the Gulf; but there are no hurricanes out there.

However, having said all of that...... if cost were really no consideration, then I would move to Hawaii ! I loved my trip there this spring, and it is the place on this earth where I would most enjoy living for the rest of my life. I love how beautiful it was, and how friendly all of the people are, and just the laid-back lifestyle there.
The trolly busses looked like they were probably there in the 1950’s, with their wooden bodies and seats, there were flowers and greenery everywhere, and anywhere in Hawaii is close to the ocean.

Hawaii sounds idyllic - just what we need in todays hustle and bustle and I can see me in a grass skirt blowing
    in the breeze

I don't give it much thought since my husband is deeply rooted in Texas. We are somewhat stuck where we are as long as my little MIL is alive; my husband would never move away from her though he has a brother and a sister here. Our kids are mostly scattered in the Texas Hill Country around Austin, so someday we might migrate in that direction. Honestly, I'm happy here as it is familiar and has been home for most of my adult life.

If money were no object, I probably wouldn't settle anywhere. I'd travel, living for a year or so at a time in different places, and I think I'd be okay remaining within the United States, although I wouldn't mind spending some time in the Channel Islands. While I'd like to travel Europe, I don't know that I'd want to live there.

I am with you, @Ken Anderson. I would travel constantly if money were no object and I were not married. My wife doesn't like to move, so we are going to be in Alaska until at least one of us dies. Should I die first (most probable), my wife might spend part of the year with the children spread in several states. but if I should outlive her, I would buy a boat or a motorhome and travel everywhere I could get to. I could live almost anywhere, but there are some places I prefer over others.

Sounds great to me also. Let’s invite @Chrissy Cross to come along and we can all enjoy the nice weather and hula dancing together.
