I like non-fiction books like biography of people who made a name for themselves because of what they make out of their lives and how they impact to other people because of what they accomplished.

Yes, I think that it's cool reading about lets say legends, and getting inspired by reading their biographies. :)
    It's very motivating at times.

I really like fiction books, and even though my wife considers me quite childish for it, my favorite sub-genre is fantasy. I really like books such as The Lord of the Rings series, that series being the very first fantasy series which drawn me into the genre.

I have such eclectic tastes in reading, the list goes on and on. Some of my favorites nowadays are the Hamish McBeth and Agatha Raisin mysteries by M.C.Beaton. I love Sherlock Holmes stories, Poe, Ray Bradbury, Erma Bombeck, and children's books, e.g, "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. I also love Roald Dahl and F.Scott Fitzgerald. I am never bored! :D

I don't read as often as I'd like anymore, but I quite like romance novels myself. Other than that, crime books are also very entertaining. I like trying to figure out the mysteries.

I read a variety of books, too. Since I don't much care for television, i read for enjoyment, and then I like historical fiction, historical romance, suspense/mystery/sction (Steve Berry is one of my favorites in this genre), and sometimes, just a lighthearted story like "Emergence" by David Palmer. That is actually one of my most favorite books, and I have read it several times, with enjoyment each time.
I also read for advancing my knowledge about subjects that I am interested in learning about. Ancient history and civilizations is a great favorite, as well as some paranormal studies, and things like cryptozoology (is Bigfoot really a non-extinct neanderthal ? ) . On the more down-to-earth side; I also read about gardening, and crafts, and other projects to do around the home.
So.... I am kind of an omnivore where it comes to consuming information from books.

With fiction, I prefer crime stories and horror. When it comes to non-fiction then it will usually be something on the spiritual side, mainly relating to Buddhism.

It's probably fair to say that I border on the obsessive when it comes to 19th-century novels, so give me Austen, Dickens, Trollope, Eliot, Conrad, etc. any day. A look at my bookshelves tells me that my tastes are very diverse, though. There's a load of fiction from all eras, from medieval to the present day, plus history books galore, particularly ancient and medieval history.

I hated reading, starting in school and carried it though my adult life. But, the past two years have been a 180 on my part. I had ordered a mystery book from Amazon and put it my kindle on my IPad. Well, you show see my library now. I love reading now. Funny how our tastes change over time.

I think that we realize as we get older that we no longer have "forever" to read boopks and learn new things, and explore topics that we have always had questions about. I have always been a reader, but bfore, I read mainly for entertainment, and a little to learn things. Now, that seems to have reversed, and I feel like I am wasting my time when I am just reading a story instead of learning about something new.
I like reading on my ipad , too; but after I got the keyboard-case for the ipad, it made it heavier and harder to use just for reading.
So, I shopped on ebay and found a used Kindle, which (to me) is just the perfect size for reading with. It is smaller and lighter weight than my ipad, yet larger than my iPhone, so it is large enough to hold and read things easily.
