If I were to create a sub-forum for Automotive, it could reasonably be placed within the Gadgets & Tech Talk forum, the Sports & Recreation forum, or the Hobbies & Crafts forum. The other option would be to create it as a forum within the Education & Entertainment category, but then I would need a second forum to go along with it, for the same of symmetry. Without promising to abide by the vote, I’d like to know what you think.

If we are to place it as a forum in the Education & Entertainment category, please help think of another forum that would also be a good fit in that category.

IMO, I think the auto posts could just go in existing sections... say if the thread was about "cars I have owned," put it in the Reminiscences section; if a restoration put it under Hobbies, electric cars under Energy & Fuel, etc. My 2 cents and that's with inflation. :D

They could go into the existing sections, and that is where they have been being put up until now; except (and this is a huge “except”) most of them wind up in the “don’t know where it goes” and “off-topic” sections of the forum, and then Ken and I have to try and figure out where they belong and move them.
Vehicles are a big part of most people’s life, and even the non-drivers, like Lon Tanner, write about their Uber experiences. Having a sub-forum for automobiles would be no different than the diet sub-forum under health and wellness, or the recipe sub-forum under Food and Drink. (Before Ken made that, recipes were all over in the food section and hard to find again)
This doesn’t mean that ALL car threads would have to go in the automotive section, so if they fit better into a different section, then they could be written there; but it would be a catch-all place for the other automotive threads that don’t seem to find anywhere else.

There was no option for automotive forum. Even the education & Entertainment sounds like automotive would be a sub forum there.

Maybe an automotive forum option then see if the category gets enough participation to keep it.

Perhaps the confusion is over the use of the word "forum." In one sense, the entirety of the SENIORSonly Club website is a forum. But, in the terminology of the forum software, each of the first-level topics within a category is also called a forum. Currently, the Education & Entertainment category has ten forums, only two of which have sub-forums. However, when I add forums, I do it in twos (it's a symmetry thing) so, before I was to add one for Automotive, I would have to come up with another one. If I were to add it as a sub-forum or another forum, I could just add it. That would be the easier way.

I was going to stay out of the vote because frankly, I just do not have a whole lot of interests when it comes to cars. But, after perusing the net, there are a lot of automotive questions and answers out there on some sites that really have very little to do with cars so I guess there might be a call for it.
    Dunno. It’s a crap shoot.

Perhaps if you feel led to create a new board then a comparable forum might be in the form of “new innovations or inventions”. It could include those things new in manufacturing, new companies, military and civilian new and old innovations / inventions that might spark some interest in those who have that Edisonite type of curiosity. I occasionally watch re-runs of “Shark Tank” on YouTube and there’s some pretty neat stuff that people come up with.

I have found threads about vehicles to be interesting and informative which makes it difficult to select one of these categories because they could all apply.

To clarify, I am not talking about starting a new FORUM, as in something apart from the SENIORSonly Club, but simply adding a place for it within this forum. I know that some of us have talked about cars that we once owned, and we might want to talk about some of the new stuff, or whatever. Perhaps something that could encompass cars, boats, planes, trains, etc., although I don't know just what to call it - maybe something with Transportation in it. If it is a sub-forum, Transportation would suffice but if it was going to be a forum, then I would need a two-part name, as well as another forum for the same category, to even things out.

OK, here's an idea. Why not just RENAME one of the existing ones and toss in Transportation?? Like make it "Gadgets, Tech-talk, and Transportation?"

Too long. Either Automotive or Transportation could be considered a subset of Gadgets & Tech Talk, however.
