Amazon Lightning Deals

When you open the Amazon page, across the top they list their specials (or at least they do on my iPad app), and one of those is Last Minute Deals.
When you open this, it has deals of the day, and Lightning Deals, both of which have a limited amount , and are timed sales.
Underneath each item, it says what percent are gone, and how much longer the sale lasts. Some items are slow to sell, and some go really fast.
My friend, @Ina I. Wonder , had said that she needed a flash drive, and they had $80 ones for $12; so I started to message her and let her know; but before I even finished the message, they were all sold, and the sales ad disappeared !
So, today, when I saw more at a similar saving , I let her know right away, and she just got hers before they were sold out.

Much of the items advertised are (to me) just useless stuff like jewelry and things that are just foo-foo, and have no practical purpose. Of course, if you like that kind of thing, then I guess it is not "useless stuff", and there is LOTS of it ! !
Being a practical type of person,and a Gadget Girl; I like things that have a useful purpose in life.

I found a $71 self-warming dog bed for just $12, so now Chipper has a new bed coming in the mail to keep him warmer this winter.
There were watches that retail for around $700, and priced for under $50; so you can find some amazing bargains if you browse through the deals each day.

 

My wife buys vintage clothing from second hand stores and sells them on eBay for a profit. We also live across the street from an auctioneer. She does some sales for him, and he also gives her a lot of stuff that won't sell at auction but which she can sell on eBay. I think the key with eBay is volume. For one thing, when you become a volume seller, eBay gives you a lot of deals. The last I heard, the first couple of hundred sales that my wife makes each month are without a fee. You also learn to automate things; my wife uses a software program to manage her sales. Like anything else, the more you do the more you learn, and the better you get at it. I used to sell some stuff on eBay but I seldom do anymore because she handles all that stuff now. She makes enough money for it to be worthwhile. There isn't much of a profit on most sales but they all add up and once in a while, she sells something for over a hundred dollars that she had picked up for free or very little. I guess it's like running a store that earns only a few cents per item, but sells enough items to make a profit. On most items, she earns only a dollar or so, but there are exceptions.

 

That's another thing she has done that helps. When I was selling on eBay, I would have to package everything and bring the package to the post office or UPS pickup to pay to have it sent. She uses a professional scale that connects to her computer, and she pays her postage online, printing out the label based on the package weight, when applicable; although the "if-it-fits-it-ships" boxes are used often. The post office and UPS do pickups at the house too, so no one has to run anything to the post office unless something goes wrong with the pickup.
