This is for us Low Carbers to post what we are eating in order for us to see not only ideas but perhaps to give some help to those that need some guidance..
I will start.......... Generally I will post the main meal of the day, which in my case, supper..
Feel free to post whatever you like as far as your daily food goes..
This will keep us honest !!!!!

    supper..
Fish...... fillets of haddock breaded in herbs and spices first and then pan fried in butter..
A salad, homemade with lettuce, onions, sliced mushrooms, and sweet pepper.. My homemade dressing..
Sugar free jello served with heavy cream..
    Pot of tea...

    Friday supper..
    Meatloaf.. made with minced chicken..
    Steamed broccoli..
    S/F pudding with heavy cream..
    Pot f tea..

Friday breakfast was...… 3 eggs scrambled with some mozzarella cheese, diced red sweet pepper, and diced onion in a fry pan and then under the broiler to brown the top.. It looked like a pizza and was very flavourful..
    Pot of coffee....

Lunch...…. A BIG hug and kiss from my dearest Princess...…... No carbs there...
We got up late and had a big breakfast which means no lunch..

    Breakfast:
3 egg omelette for my Princess with a slice of turkey bacon..
For me, 3 scrambled eggs with some sliced mushrooms..
    Pot of freshly brewed Folgers

    Supper:
Turkey burgers on the BBQ.. I make my own burgers using minced turkey..
When I say burgers, there isn't any bread or bun, but just the burger.. The package of minced is 450g and I make 4 burgers from it which means each burger is about 1/4 pound.. Naturally I add some herbs and spices to the minced..
Now, I also have some veal bangers (sausages) in the freezer that I might add each one as well.. They are small bangers..
A fresh salad with my own dressing..
Frozen blueberries with splenda and heavy cream.. let the cream freeze from the berries and you have blueberry ice cream..
    Pot of tea..

    Lunch:
We very rarely eat lunch at all because we get up late and have a big breakfast..
We generally get out of bed around 11:00am and by the time we eat breakfast, it is noon or later.......

There is no starvation, but Atkins can make you quite sick at the beginning. When your body gets deprived of the carbs it has been used to, it reacts. It takes a week or two to get over it. It isn't nearly so bad once you get past the "initiation". We eat a low-carb diet here, but include some carbs as I think the body requires some carbs to remain balanced. You have to be aware that ketosis generated by a high protein diet can damage the kidneys of some people. Depending on the type of protein you eat, gout can also be a problem in some people. I prefer the "Vegetabletarian Diet" developed by Steve Solomon. He maintains a diet of no starches and 20% high-protein foods, such as meat and eggs. The remainder is made up of vegetables--fresh, if you can get them. Because beans aren't truly a protein food and have some starch, they are in the middle but allowed. My wife initially used a FODMAP diet when she was curing her digestive issues, and it completely changed what she liked to eat. She had always hated cilantro and avocados, but no they are and major part of her diet. When her food profile changed, so did her tastes. She has also eliminated rice, all grains, dairy, soy and sugar. She eats small amounts of root vegetables and cabbage and broccoli, since those are some of our major crops here.

    Don..
The "induction" phase of Low Carb is to eat 20 carbs a day for the beginning..
That's quite a lot of carbs if you follow the food plan properly..
Naturally, the 20 carbs come from the proper foods..
At NO time is there a NO CARB option..
Your body is used to consuming all kinds of bad carbs and changing the intake will take a bit of adjustments, but it won't make you ill in any way..
Remember to drink your water... Extremely important !!!!

Oh, I remember the induction phase. My wife and I were both quite sick through most of the first two weeks. It was truly awful. As soon as that was over, however, and the restrictions eased, everything got better and we spent quite a long time on the diet.

Induction isn't the same for everyone..
we never had any problems at all.. Just a better feeling as the carbs were reduced..
I guess it is different for everyone..
I was on induction for several weeks, not just 2 weeks..
Eventually lost about 150 pounds on Low Carb..
no problem at all during the entire time..

I don't understand why you had a problem.. perhaps it was the lack of water, I don't know...
I never heard of any problems till you mentioned it..

The last thing in the world I need is something else to make me ill..even if it's only for 2 weeks...... I've got enough to contend with health wise at the moment as it is.. :(

Like @Steve North said, perhaps you wouldn't have a problem, but we certainly did. You could just skip the induction phase and go onto the diet. As he says, make sure you keep the water flowing, or kidney damage can result if the ketone concentration gets too high for too long a period. The up side is, when you are in ketosis, you are generally losing weight.:)

It's called the "Induction Flu" and it can really make you feel miserable. I had it when I tried low-carb about 10 years ago. After being on the diet for a couple of miserable months I lost 10 pounds and a bunch of my hair fell out. Not for me.

    Beth..
I can't say I have had any of those symptoms at all.. I was on induction for about 2 months and then went to the low carb way of life and then on maintenance and have never had a single problem ever since..
I have lost the weight and kept it off for the past 12 years or so.. I eat rather well and I have no problem at all..
if this isn't for you, then all I can say is good luck in your weight loss.. I hope you can find something that works and will keep the weight off for life.....
When you do find it, please inform me as I would also like to know about it....
