Is anyone watching the HBO documentary that is causing such a stir, "Leaving Neverland?" We watched the first half last night and the rest will be on tonight. The basis of the show is two men who accuse Michael Jackson of sexually abusing them as children (apparently among many others.) I'm not sure I'm convinced but we will watch the finale and then a followup hosted by Oprah Winfrey.

    Trailer for Oprah's show...

Yes it's been all over the media here.. not sure if we'll get it on our tv schedules, but even if we do, I wouldn't want to watch it tbh...

Having been a victim myself as a child I can't watch or read anything graphic about it happening to other children.

It's hard to think that the men are lying, they're stories correlate, but if it's true then I would have to think that their parents must have had an idea what was going on and turned a blind eye..why would a mother allow her little son to sleep with a grown man..why would a mother move her child from Australia to be with a grown man?

That said Corey feldman the self styled Peodo spokesman for abused children, is calling the men liars...for the simple reason that Jackson didn't abuse him.

However what Feldman forgets is, that he was already a well known star by then, and he was also older than the age of the children that Jackson liked to surround himself with... and thirdly, Jackson was clever enough to have many children at neverland including girls.. many times a paedophile will groom just one child at a time.. so therefore none of the other kids would have realised what was going on...

of course that's all supposing that it happened in the first place...but at this stage I'm tending to believe the ''boys''...

It is kind of hard to watch, Holly. One of the boys was 7 when the abuse started...ugh. My biggest issue with the story is that the parents are either totally clueless or just didn't care because they got "perks" and were star-struck. Disgusting. I'd never have let my 7 year old out of my sight. (The parents are in the documentary with lame excuses.)

ETA--I had not heard about Corey Feldman's "opinion," but there was a clip of a very young Macaulay Culkin with MJ in the documentary.

I never did like that contemptible hyped-up queer, with his dark shades and his one glove!

He made millions, I realize, but from whom? Not from people who appreciate mature entertainment, like Al Jolson, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Elvis!

I heard about this in great detail. Didn't see it last night (was watching season finale of 'Victoria' on PBS). Didn't realize documentary is in two parts. Don't know if I can stand to hear anymore than what I unfortunately already heard.

It's pretty easy to believe that about Michael Jackson, but of course, that doesn't mean it's true.

Yes; it's 4 hours long and then the Oprah sit-down show following. I understand that it will also be on Netflix so people who don't subscribe to HBO will have access to view sooner or later. (And of course HBO will re-run 500 times.)

I disagree about his talent, Hal. He was a consummate entertainer and worked extremely hard at his craft. Back in the 80's I was a huge fan of his music and he always seemed so self-deprecating and kind. So I don't know what to think about these accusations.

    And... Al Jolson??? :p

I hate it if it's true, especially for the children that were involved.

To be fair, he didn't have the huge competition that there is these days

The second half of the documentary starts in about half an hour; I need to take a quick bath and get a cup of coffee!!
