There are a lot of positive replies in the English language, some legitimate and some slang. Here's my list: Yes Yessir Yeah Yep You Bet Yowsah* Uh Huh Affirmative F***in' A Absolutely Sure Thing Right Roger Have you any others? * Yowswah may not be familiar to you "junior" seniors, but it was a national slang fad in the 1940's when orchestra leader Ben Bernie used it at the opening and closing of his radio broadcasts of dance band music in the 1930's & 1940's. His introduction was "Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah, this is Ben Bernie, the Old Maestro, with an evening of Dance Music from the Waldorf Astoria in New York." This was before TV, when we tuned to his program on our big Du Mont or Zenith or Atwater-Kent radio consoles for an evening of listening or dancing to the "The Old Maestro" as he was known. Yowsah! Well Nancy..."Good Show" is not a response in the affirmative. It is a comment of Praise, know what I mean? Example: If someone asked if you've got the Money, you would say something like Yes, not Good Show. Hal
That just indicates the status of something, not an affirmative reply. For example, when someone asks if you are a US Citizen, you wouldn't reply "All right". You would say "Yes, or Sure, or Absolutely or You bet". See what I mean, Shirley? Hal
